A dinosaur of a machine (I need help)

Alrighty then... I am trying to prevent myself from a bit of a research/trial and error headache. One of my affiliate companies has just sent up a very old OKK machine (Model: PCV-4). We have just gone through and given it quite the overhaul (Arrgh!), and are about ready to power up and give her a test run. It has a Mitsubishi control, which what I have read so far, is very similar to Fanuc. What I'm wondering is: Does anybody know if, or which post processor there is in the standard Mc9 post library that I can use to test the machine out with?

Slick,

My bet is the OKK is running a Misubishi Meldas 5000C with a plasma screen (little green lights grouped close together) - I would estimate this to be about 20~26 years old.

If this is indeed the control, there won't be too much refining required since it is virtually Fanuc compatible.

I will look into my archives for some programming examples from the past. I cannot recall if G49 was available at that time, but will look into it none the less.

Good machine by the way!

Regards, Jack

So whats the difference between Fanuc and Fanuk?

Fanuk is a mis-spelling. It is Fanuc and it is pronounced fanick. It is NOT pronounced fanook or fanuk, and if you don't believe me, call 'em up and ask 'em.

Back to the original poster's question, Mitsubishi is Fanuc compatible. Most everything is the same, MPMaster is the best place to start IMHO, Dave has done a fantastic job with that post. Thank you Dave for making it available.

HTH,

Big D,

I tried to tell you that the OKK is junk and if you want to help your company you will crash it beyond repair. No matter what the replacemet it will be much more accurate than the the reject they sent you. He's just kidding If anyone can figure it out you can! Nice to see you taking advantage of the mastercam forum.
