Swept 2D issue

I am trying to make a swept 2D path. The part is a core with a radius on the top edge. I want to mill the top radius. I picked the across curve, the along curves, then the intersection point. Once this is all done, I get a dialogue that says "Warning, the along contour does not lie in a defined view". What do I need to do here? Do I need to project the along curves to a plane? Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Do you mean to set it when creating the toolpath? I tried and it did not work. Smae warning.

maybe Im not visualizing this correctly, but wouldnt this be a revolved surface.

The island that the radius is on is elliptical, not round.

Try doing a screen, next menu, combine views. If that doesn't work try a xform, squash. One of these should take care of it.

Nothing seems to be working. Aborting Swept 2D and going to use flowline. I was having issues with flowline on this part also, but I got it to work better. Thanks for the replys and good Tuesday to all..............

Can you put the file up on the FTP? I'll have a look at it. Every now and then, I get an issue with the Swept 2D toolpath. Its a great, simple toolpath. An oldy but a goody

I have been seeing that it has it's place, but there are those times when it just seems to not want to work.

 

I will have to get with the IT guy here to get me acces to the FTP. We have been restricted in that area. I will try to get it up there later. Thanks

I ran into that same problem and what I did was to create arc in the top plane then rotate it 90 degrees and it would work for me. It has something to do with the view the arc was created in.

You could also try the Surface-Project-Blend-3D toolpath for V9. It works similarly to flowline but against any shape of surfaces. The boundaries should be at the same plane and start at the same point but you may find that it works a lot better than either the 2-D Swept or Flowline toolpaths. HTH

Hi!

Just do next:

1.Set C-plane

2. Create , arc, 3 points- and pick 3 points on exsisting arc or spline, so you created new arc

3 Use this arc for the toolpath.
