Laptop Video cards

Dell offers 2 different video cards with their high end laptops these days.

An NVIDIA 32 meg

and an ATI 64 meg.

Does anyone have experience with these two cards and Mastercam??

I know ATI cards cause trouble in destops, but I'm

running an ATI in my 2 year old Dell OK. I did have to tweak it some to get it to work

I use a Dell Inspiron 8200, XP Pro, 1.7 GHz, 512 RAM, and a GeForce4 440 Go - 64 meg card.

This system screams for me. I do a lot of 3d work, very large files. I model my machine's table with all fixturing and neck's for carving. As I said the files are very large. The graphics card kick's butt. I can take a file like the above mentioned and "spin it" on my screen with no hang ups or "ghosts" showing up. The best part for, is that I can run two monitors and the card still kick's butt with both monitors set to a high resolution.

gcode,

Dell Inspiron 8200, XP Pro, 2.2 GHz, 768 RAM, with a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 - 64 meg card.

No problems since I received this at Christmas. biggrin.gif

I was really concerned since there seems to be a lot of negativity towards Ati when used with Mastercam – I took the chance since the machine is used with many other programs. I have no complaints at all, just big smiles. cheers.gif

Regards, Jack
