Win xp

Running win xp. Cannot find hasp. Updated driver from Aladdin. Still cannt find hasp. Anyone with ideas? Thanks

I don't know how to fix your problem but wanted to say that I hate XP. LOL I've had nothing but problems with that software. 2000 worked just fine IMHO.

Are you running XP Home or XP Pro? I had nothing but grief with XP Home, but have had excellent results with MC 9.0 SP1 running on XP Pro. I used the HDD32.zip file to update with and had no issues with finding the HASP after applying the update. I did not use the ealladin.com link.

I think there's a hasp utility specifically for XP. I remember that the one on the V9 CD didn't work when I installed V9 on XP.

 

After about a week, I reverted back to Win2k since it's more secure (lol) and more stable.

Thats not at all true. Win XP is by far more stable then 2k. Along the lines of .Net Server ( now Windows Server 2003), it is the most stable OS MS has made. Even the most expensive flavour of Unix is unsecure if the admin doesnt know anything. Saying XP isnt secure is like saying this phillips screw driver is prone to theft where as this one isnt. It almost hasnt a thing to do with the OS. On top of that, XP has MANY feautures which can make it much more secure then 2k so long as the admin has the capacity to utilize it.

I use XP home, I was under the impression the main differance has to do with network capability.I havent suffered any problems yet.But I do on my other stations running NT now thats some Sh@# I dont care for, and others love.

 

XP has to many bells and whistles for me.

I like to say I have found XP Pro to be very stable and easy to use.

I have been for te last sevral years the big fan of Win2k and still am but now I have know trouble moving all my systems to XP pro.

 

I am waiting to see what they come with on the server side.

You are CORRECT.

The real difference between XP Home & XP Pro is just that - networking.

 

I've run Win2K on several systems since that day this OS was released.

Correct setup with good hardware = rock solid platform.

 

I don't have as much experience (time) using XP,

but certainly cannot complain, it's been good to me.

 

I did not need the additional networking in XP PRO for home use,

so I didn't spend the extra $$$.

 

This does NOT mean that you cannot network with XP Home.

My home network works fine, with these systems ->

 

Work system (Dell laptop) with XP Pro

Home system (Dell desktop) with XP Home

Home system (custom built desktop) with Win2K Pro

Home system (old Dell desktop) with Win 98

 

The Win98 box is going away soon, because '98 IS garbage!
