In need of Art help

To the Art MC'ers,

All the projects posted are truly works of art. cheers.gif

I have a Christmas project I want to make for my

wife do but don't have the means(MCArt) to make

a 3-d model from a picture.

I was wondering if I could get some help with

a 3-d model of a sea turtle.

The size of this sea turtle to be 8" x 8" raised

like the pictures Trevor posted on his topic,

Prayings hands, bearded man portrait etc.

I am to cut this out in wood to make plaque type

piece to hang on a wall.

Also any recommendation on the type of wood to

use would be helpful

Are these pictures usable?

I would greatly appreciate any help and support

for this project.

Thanks in advance

Rick

Hey , that sounds great.

I have not used stl's as of yet.

(I use X2 MR2/Solids Moldplus)

Will I be able to modify it to create some

kind of contoured picture frame profile?

Or do I set/nest the stl into a solid or surface

made shape?

I am thinking of an Oval pendant type of border

bout 1" or more around the turtle .

Maybe an eye hoop

at the top to hang it

The piece will be around 1" to 2 " thick

Can you get surfaces from an stl.

(I am an STL Green guy)

Many Thanks

Rick

I can look at the stl shaded in Solid works.

If I can bring a 3-d model, stl and or surfs into

mastercam I can machine it, yes?

I just don't have the means to create the 3-d file

like the ones you have posted using Art.

So if its done in MC Art will I (using mill lvl 3)

still be able to open the 3-d stl or surf model

or MC file?

Thanks

Rick

Danbo,

Yes, that looks like what I am aiming for. cheers.gif

I would like to check it out the way it is.

I think what you have done is fine.

Would you be able to toss it on the FTP site

as an X2 MR2 file?

I just check and it back up and I got on with out

a password.

Otherwise I have unlimited email in my profile.

Thanks You very much, cheers.gif

Cheers

Rick

Sorry it took so long to reply

I had to start a crashed file from scratch to

get er back to where I left off banghead.gif

I think cancel should not lose the file

but just in case

If you saved just prior to the stitching you can

do a couple things.

Open the file in a new session, see if it is

at where you want it then save as

Close that session then cancel or end task the one that

is taking forever

You should end up with the original and the saved

as one the same.

I think hitting escape many times repetitively

should doe it. maybe....

Otherwise ya gotta wait it out or alt-ctrl-del

then end task

I can try some paths over what you have there.

I got all day its snowing, half a dozen kids

runnin rampant through the house, wifes on her way

back from shopping. Typical saturday working at home
