X5 DOES take a while to load. For example, if I am connected to my network in the office, it takes 2:31 yes that's two minutes 31 sec to load! :o:angry: :o:angry::o:angry:

My user data path is as follows;

\\NETWORK_NAME\USERS\USERNAME\MY DOCUMENTS\MY MCAMX5\

Our server is located in NOrthern California and basically I connect to it over the internet. This is my connection speed;

Thanks alot Microsoft... THANKS ALOT!!! :angry:

Oh, if I'm home, MC starts in about 8~10 sec. :) Much better. [/size]

These paths are not correct!?! are they?

NO.. did the install dump all your config stuff and machine def's/control defs/ posts/ etc .in C:\PROGRAM FILES\MCAMX5\??

did you look in your User folder for the "my mcamx5"??

maybe you just need to find that folder and change your PATH in System Config/Files???

Yes.. I looked and the folder was never created. There was "nothing" there.

I checked to make sure that there were no strange permissions set on my documents folder and there are not. We have recently installed other software which creates folder in the user folder so it should be possible for it to create them.

I am not sure what is going on at this point.

I am looking in to a couple of things that might be the culprit but I am not convinced.

Ok, I figured out what the problem is but do not understand why this would be the case.

My desktop is configured so that there are no icons on it at all. My Networks, My Documents, etc, are all removed. I went back and replaced them on to my desktop and the install went as it should. This was installing X5 on drive D as we wanted.

That's about the weirdest config I've ever heard of. :headscratch:

the "my mcamx5" folder installs into My Documents.. Install couldn't find it so it punted ???

I guess?? The strange thing is that the directories are still there. I only removed the Icons/shortcuts from the desktop. Im not sure why removing the icons would affect the mastercam install especially when removing the icons are just a simple desktop setting. Unless it has to do with registry changes caused by the icon removal. I may dig in to it a bit more tomorrow just for my own curiosity. Today I am just glad that it is now working. What a simple solution for something that is so odd.
