2d contour tool and assembly error

Has anyone seen this error? I opened an old X2 file in X5, updated the machine def file to current, tried to modify a couple of things in the operation and it keeps giving me this error. No matter which option I select it give me this error "every" time I re-open the operation and try to make a change.

 

When opening older files like this, is it better to convert to X5 prior to opening or should just opening the file and saving it as X5 be ok?

 

I am not using the tool holder at all in my tool set up.

I have run into it.. and solved it by recreating the tool.

It only happened to me once so a never found a way to prevent it or a better way to solve the problem

Damn.. Ive run in to this again in another part file. This time it is happening for every tool. This really blows. Does anyone know if there is an easier way of solving this other than re-creating all of the tools?

try opening the X2 file in X4.. save that.. then open in the X4 in X5

Have you tried using the update folder utility in the file drop down to update a McamX2 part file to X5?

 

I wouldn't do a whole folder's worth maybe try one or two files to see what the results are.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. My problem is, I keep opening these damn files not realizing how old that they are. I make a bunch of changes and then go to regenerate operations and realize that there is a problem.

 

Too bad there isnt a way to search through the directories for files that are all X2 and older, and separate them out. I think that I just need to be more careful and pay attention to file versions in the future. If they are older than X4, open and save them to X4 before converting them to X5.

 

What a pain in the xxxx.

Just sort your folder by date modified and then move all the old files to a new folder if you want to separate them
