I invite all the post writing Gurus to attend and give pointers to all that are interested.

The first thing I would like to share is how to pull the total length of a tool from the .OPS binary file and use it as your Gage Length.

 

#---- READ TOOL LENGTH FROM BINARY .OPS ----

gage1 : 0

gage2 : 0

gage3 : 0 # Total Tool Length

gage4 : 0

gage5 : 0

 

pparameter

 

if prmcode = 20007, gage1 = rpar(sparameter,3)

 

Use Gage3 as your Gage Length

Perhaps as a throwback to the days of regenerating for all changes, or even pre-associativity, and pre-nice tool definition interface, we still tend to prompt during posting for gauge lengths. That way if the value changed, it could be done without a regen.
