Mastercam window goes black?

What would cause my Mastercam window to go black? I can't get it to repeat it just does it at random with any file I have open, sometimes when I'm trying to just open a file.

I even tried updating my driver today and nothing changed.

That is all a little odd. That card should work OK. Does the problem happen when using only 1 monitor?

I haven't tried it with 1 monitor. I have had this same setup for the last year, this problem only started last Friday. I even re-installed Mastercam and that didn't help.

We have several PC's that the MC window will go white at times. Not all are dual monitor, one is a laptop but all Dell's & have quadro cards, MCX5 MU1, and Win 7. I can make one repeat. MC on the left screen then open IE9 on the second and MC goes white instantly.

Could be a resource issue.

How much RAM do you have? And what cpu do you have?

Also do you have a ton of services and/or programs running in the background?

I have had it turn white on me when its thinking, I see that as normal. I keep a few programs open in the background like Cimco and Outlook.

 

It is a Dell T7400 with 4G of ram and a Quad Core Xeon processor X5482 3.20GHz with Windows XP

How is your screen setup handled?

 

Are you using it as 2 screens or are you using extended desktop and spanning the 2 screens?

I have it set up independently (dualview)

OK have you tried disabling the desktop composition?

 

Right click on the launching icon >> Properties >> Compatibility >> Check the disable desktop composition.

 

Restart Mastercam and try that

I don't see "desktop composition" Is that the same as "disable visual themes"?

OK XP, try this

 

Right click on My computer

 

Properties >> Advanced Tab, under Performance, click settings >> select Adjust for Best Performance

I just tried your suggestion and it didn't help, still froze up and went black. I am at a loss with this. This problem has only started last Friday and nothing on my computer was changed last week.

Ben, have you installed any windows updates?

Yes I have, not sure when I did it last(sometime in the last few weeks I think). I will have to check tomorrow morning. My reseller also mentioned updates are causing a problem for some people. If it is the windows updates what would the best fix be?

If its an update I would uninstall it. I know in windows 7 there is a way you can prevent that update (the update that is causing you issues) from being installed. I'm sure you can do the same thing in Win XP. If its an update please let everyone know and if its not I hope you find the solution to your problem soon.

I just had this happen on one of our HP laptops. The screen would turn black at random intervals and freeze. After 30 seconds or so, It would return control to the operator. It turns out that the Logitech Setpoint mouse driver was the culprit. I uninstalled it and the problem went away.

wow who would want to work with computers. I have setpoint 5.10.9 and 3Dconnexion 6.13.0on a HP 8530W with Win 7 SP1 x64 and I have never seen this one

Looks like it is setpoint. I had version 6.30.42.

I tried loading up an older version of setpoint (4.80.103) and it started going black again. Bill what OS were you running?

Setpoint shows 2 numbers 5.10.9 and 6.15.6 I have Win7 SP1 x64
