Windows 7 / MCX5MU1 error

I just did a fresh install of MCX5 w/MU1, all default everything... The program seems to work fine but I get a popup during the splash screen with a message about

'The procedure entry point ?GroupsMachineGroup@YAPAU_group_list@@PAU1@@z could not be located in the dynamic link library MCMachineDef.dll.'

I've tried uninstalling, clean and reinstall to no avail. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Erik

did you install from CD or web download...?

I'm thinking a prequisite software may not have been installed

I'm getting that error message and the ntvdm.exe error message. By researching the topic here it seems Mcam needs to be installed from the CD to get rid of it but we never got the MU1 cd so I figured I would just put up with it until X6 comes out hoping it will be fixed.

Have you tried redownloading the Executable from the web again. You might get lucky and it fixes it, for X4 I had a working copy of it on the server but for some reason it got corrupted by the time I got to install it on the floor PC. Redownload fixed it !

Well, I got in this morning and cleaned out the install again, removed all folders and traces leftover... restart and reinstall from DVD, same results. I guess I will redownload like Greyman recommended, I do remember this happening once before (thanks for the tip). Hopefully this works, I've got a new machine w/an i7 and i'm dying to crunch some #'s.

Sidenote, any advice on a reseller w/ apparently little regard for helping it's customers?

Here is something to look into. In Windows 7-64 bit the chooks folder is now located in c:\program files X86\mcamx5. Did you delete this folder and its contents before re-installing?

Problem: When starting up Mastercam after upgrading/updating, a message saying "Entry Point Not Found" appears. Clicking OK starts Mastercam without further problems.

Reason: This is caused by a third party application that has not been updated. It is usually related to over writing an older installation that has older versions of c-hooks in the chooks folder

Solution: Contact the third party or your reseller to update the application to the current version. You can also uninstall the older application.

Hey Erik,

The ntvdm.exe error you are experiencing is a 32bit windows application. I am guessing you are running a 64 bit computer which is why you are getting this error message. If you can find a 32 bit computer and copy this file into your root C: this error should disappear.

That was my addition. I'll get the file from one of our old computers. Thanks.

Chris I am caught in a loop. Replacing MCMachinedef.DLL caused MCCore.dll to fail next... replaced that as well, now Mastercam.EXE shows a similar error. I've also tried the DVD for a clean install with the same results. I'd call my reseller again, but I know what the result will be. If you've got an X6 DVD I can have, I think that might fix it.

**Update**

I reinstalled through the local admin account instead of the domain admin account and it stuck this time. I had to copy the 'shared mcx5' folder to the domain user folder and I am up and running now. It's kind of funny that all previous MCX installs for the last 4-1/2 years I've done have been through the domain account and I never had an issue...

Thanks to all who assisted, and Chris Lang - thanks for going the extra mile!
