X5 MU1 64 bit C-Hook issue

I've helped many people who were having trouble running chooks..

90% of the time they have dropped an older version of thier config file into a new version of mastercam (see my siggy)

and the path to the chooks folder is wrong...

so if you dropped your X4 config file into your X5MU1 install.. its looking in

C:\mcamx4\chooks and trying to launch X4 chooks in X5.. which is not going to work

this will also cause failure to launch with the advanced 5axis toolpaths as they are all 3rd party chooks

X5 should install in C:\Program Files (x86)\mcamx5\ on x64 bit systems because it is not a true x64 application..

this is where it's installed on my Win7x64 system

C:\Program Files (x86)\mcamx5\chooks

where does your chooks folder actually reside?

or do you have a fix ?

you can go into System Config/Files and set the "Custon Add-in(dll) " path to the correct folder.

BUT..

It sounds like IT dropped your X3 config file into your new X5 install..

(again see my siggy :) )

If they did that, you will have other problems too

so

your best bet is to

close Mastercam

delete your config file

start mastercam.. it won't find a config file so it will create a new default one

and you will have to reset all your settings..

if that fails, plan B is uninstall, run CCleaner registry cleaner and reinstall
