SolidWorks 2012, wait for X6?

I think I already know the answer here but...

One of our CAD seats recently installed SolidWorks 2012 and MC X5

will no longer open Part files.

I seem to go through this every year with SW.

Back to using parasolids but its a pain in the rump to constantly

have to tell our CAD guys when I can use what they're using and when I need

them to save and send as parasolid.

Its pretty much gotten to the point that they don't believe me when I say SLDPRT's are OK

cause 5-6 months later I'll be back....

Whining done

I have X5 MU1 and SW 2012 and Mastercam opens them without any problems but I dont bring in the history.

With SW 2012 on your system, you have the latest .dll file, that is likely what has given you such ability.

For the Mastercam standalone user, they don't have the dll, thus until X6 is released, they won't have the latest necessary files.

So if I copy that .dll to a computer that has X5 but not SW2012, would those files open?
