errors installing X6

I turned on my p.c.

I download all the x64 bit X6 dloads

I did a system image

I waited till it was done

I rebooted for the p.c. for rthe heck of it

I right click the mastercamx6-x64-web.exe install and

run as administrator

 

Immediately it errors installing these

.

.

I havent hit finish install yet on the 2nd fail

 

Does any body think it matters?

Should I continue?

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated

That error happened to my laptop pc at home. I continued with the install and everything seemed fine except the new machine simulation failed. My laptop pc is Vista Home Premium which isn't actually supported by X6, so I can't really bitch about it.

Rickster is this an XP computer your installing X6 on? If it is you must have the latest SP for windows installed.

 

Make sure all of your windows updates are completed and then try to re-install the software.

Chris, it is win 7 x64 fully updated

 

other then some important things in the control

def not updating properly like the tool dia offset (add to tool) etc

I believe it was a success

 

ill go through it tooth and nail anyways

Well I'm glad to hear you managed to install the software. Did you just ignore the error and click Yes?

i also used JP's install, update and migration .pdf

 

did the bench mark, it seems ok

 

I will do my work one next week when time allows(couple rush jobs on the go)

Rickster, about your control def not updating. That has happened to me on every upgrade since X. I called the reseller the other day and they informed me it will do that with every upgrade if I leave the previous version on the pc. You have to manually edit all your control defs once you direct the control def to the new post. I have to do that with 7 machines. A real pain in the xxxx!

Rickster - If you want to verify that you have the latest redistributables, you can get them by googling "microsoft visual c++ 2010 redistributable package x64" which will take you to http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=14632 where you can install it. I've run into that many times in my past lives as a network admin. It's an issue with Microsoft's Visual Studio (the programming/design environment that things like Mastercam are written in). I've never figured out a 100% reason why these failed to install sometimes, but not others..

Aaron, when I install it at work I will have my it guy take care of that.

At home here i will see what I can do to get the right ones.

 

I have complete installed, updated and Migrated.

 

Will everything be fine if I install these c++ package after the install?

Or will i have to uninstall and re install.

 

X6 opens and i quickly made a few 2-d paths. looks fine?..?...
