Windows 8

Recommended Posts

For grins over the weekend, I installed the Customer Preview of Windows 8. I wanted to see if Mastercam would install and run Ok on this new platform.

Answer - Yes. However, if Microsoft thinks I'm going to go out and spend money on that release, it better change A LOT! If I had a Touch Screen, maybe I would consider it more.

From everything I have read so far, THAT is the biggest single change in Windows 8, I can't see that being the driving force for anyone to move from Win7 to Win8

Still running good 'ol XP at home, and at work on the CMM and interweb pc.

I really can't see the need for the changinig for changing sake. The CAE systems are running 7 because of the mcam 64bit thing, and to be fair 7 is rock stable.

But upgrade again - no way unless mcam's going 128bit...

Windows 8 was made specifically for touchscreen systems I hear. They are betting the farm that everyone is going to be moving over to tablets in the very near future and ditching their "antiquated" desktops and laptops.

Good for the welfare collecting yuppies, not so much for anyone that wants to actually work.

Yeah... I love my Samsung ( droid) tablet.

It's great for Kindle reading and light websurfing, but I'm back at my computer for anything

serious

I have an Iconia Tab a500. I use it for e-reading, some light gaming, comics, and watching videos when I'm away from home. Given the choice I still prefer my good ol' desktop.
