How do I get X5 to run on my new Win7 64bit machine?

Nastyzen.... another thing to check out would be if the 3 folders were installed and if they have the appropriate files within them.

Make sure the following folders are installed on your computer

C:\Program Files (x86)\mcamx5

C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared mcamx5

C:\Users\Chris\Documents\my mcamx5

There could be an off chance that some of the files may not have been installed properly.

Did you install from a Disk or did you download the file from www.mastercam.com?

Were there any errors during the install? Do you have another version of Mastercam working on the computer in question?

Good morning guys,

So, net frame work is there. The 3 files are where they should be.

The instal came as a CD instal zip file from Jay who kindly sent it to me a while back and all was smoothly installed.

I had tried the one from the web site and it behaved in the same way. yes I uninstalled that version from my PC before installing with a restart before installing the CD one.

Todd mentions there is a newer version of the hasp driver.

Should I try that?

Thank's

Claude

I can't remember, but does X5 have a log program? I think it was introduced in X5, but I don't have X5 installed right now so I can't check. If so, check down in your start menu in the dock (by the clock) and see if it's running.

If it's not, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\mcamx5 and start the file MCLogr.exe, and THEN start X5. See what if it says anything worthwhile...

I'm so happy it now works also. Wooohoo!

The best thing about this problem, is that I came across some really good and savvy MC people.

It was always enjoyable to speak with you Jay. I for sure will visit here from time to time. I enjoyed your informative video and will be looking for more of them.

There is a cold one in the fridge if your ever up my way.

Cheers

Claude
