HARD MILLING END MILL

What name brand end mill works for machining flats on a 62 RC shaft.

I need to put a .250 wide flat on both ends. I dont have a surface grinder here, yet.

I like OSG cutters

The OSG List 4440 end mills are quite effective for us.

You'll probably get better results if you can get away with sidemilling them instead of endmilling them.

Robb Jack R-HM end mills work well. We're going to try YG-1 hard mills also, they're cheaper and we've had good look with YG-1.

This, and also most end mills designed for hard milling will have a corner radius.

YG-1 X5070 Mills are made specifically for cutting at 50-70HRc and work great.. and last a long time, keeping in mind you need to use them as recommended by the manufacturer to get best results..

I'll do the OSG.

Sidemilling does sound like the better way, since the shafts are 8.0" long.
