You can't change the UV lines in a surface. Also flowline doesn't work with more than 1 surface unless there is only 1 "row" of surfaces (You can't have a 2x2 patch of surfaces to cut). I have gotten around this in the past by creating slice curves on the patch of surfaces (spacing dependent on tolerance required) and lofting them together into a single new surface. Time consuming (I'd suggest a REALLY fast computer) but it works.

Just as an additional note: my experience has shown that flowline doesn't handle inside corner radii very well; especially if the corner radius of the tool is close in size to the radius of the surface.
