code inside parenthesis???

Recommended Posts

on my Fanuc controler i was under the impression the any code inside parenthesis was not seen.

I just had a % sign in my title which was inside the parenthesis and it really did not like it. Eventually worked out what was wrong and it

ran like a dream once i removed that %. (See below)

here is the code that was screwing me up. So some characters are seen inside parenthesis????

O10 00 ( 10X40 ZETA SG 2.5%)

( DATE=DD-MM-YY - 02-04-13 TIME=HH:MM - 09:22 )

( MATERIAL - ALUMINUM INCH - 2024 )

( T2 | 1/4 CENTERDRILL | H2 )

( T7 | PRESS | H7 )

( T16 | 1/32 FLAT ENDMILL | H16 )

( T10 | NO. 66 DRILL | H10 )

( T8 | 1/16 FLAT ENDMILL | H8 )

( T9 | .02 BALL | H9 )

( T6 | 3/32 BALL ENDMILL | H6 )

G20

N2 ( SM CENTER ONE WALL TOP )

G0 G90 G80 G40 G17 G49

G49 G53 Z0.

And by the way I am operating a Robodrill with a 31i controler.

A % sign means "start of transmission" and "end of transmission"

There should be one at the start and end of the file with the gcode inthe middle

Many controls are very picky about that.

For example..

if the file has an empty line then the % sign.. you will get a file with one empty line when you send it to the control

and many controls will stop recieving if they see a % sign inside brackets.

another thing a lot of Fanucs do is turn a : (colon) into an O even if it is inside brackets.

If I send

(PART NUMBER: 12345) out to one of the Mitusbishi HBM's

the file that comes back will look like this

(PART NUMBERO 12345)

Some machines are more tolerant than other's about this though.. and you have to deal with it on a machine by machine basis
