Get an accu-drill carbide strait flute.

You can drill out a tap with these and they hold size like a spade drill because the outside has no relief so it wont cut.

 

I use kerosene and an acid brush and drill until its glowing then dab it....heh

 

kinda smoky....

 

You can also get a solid carbide spade drill....

Are a carbide blank with about a 7 degree included grind on the sides and a high angled-non split tip.

 

The accu drill is a split tip blank.

 

Murlin teh drill out busted taps all day long....

I actually make my own from busted carbide EM's. Real easy to do by hand.

 

My general speed/feed: 50rpm x .1ipm

Try bumping that puppy up to around 1200 and gouge on it biggrin.gif When the tap starts glowing its time to dowse it with some kerosene and drill down another 1/4" until it glows again.....heh

 

Kinda hard to feel it on a CNC, I always drilled em out on a bridgeport....
