Xform "DRAG" MX8

I see the drag command in xform is no longer in MX8, is there another way to just drag and drop geometry besides transforming? We use drag all the time in engraving, etc.

I use dynamic xform when moving text to engrave all the time now, haven't touched drag since dynamic xform was introduced.

Wow I didn't notice that was gone but Dynamic Xform is SOOO much better and more precise for placement.

Sometimes you don't need precise placement, you just wanna drag and drop.

 

I used to use Xform-drag on every part too, for engraving.

you are correct you don't need precise but you do just the drag and Drop or you can have the option for precise. just takes a little getting used to but not much.

So how do you / can you  xform drag in X8?

 

I can't figure it out.

 

All I want is to easily and quickly drag some geometry.

I figured out what I was doing wrong.

 

After selecting the geometry and placing the genome I had to move the cursor a little bit away from the placement point

and then the small icon for "Manipulate axis" pops up in the screen area, click that and it works like it's supposed to.

I will miss Drag myself but then again I still miss "modify" too which went away a while ago.

What part of Modify are you looking to use? Most (practically all) functionality is still there since V9, it's just in a different place.

I just miss it as when I go to the menu on the top I still scan with my eyes for modify. Like I reach for the column shifter when I drive my wife's honda. Modify was part of my life for like 15 years or more.
