DMG Mori vrs. Mazak

Recommended Posts

We already have Integrex I machines with the Matrix 2 controls. but we are getting readyto buy 6 to 9 more machines. We have looked at both Integrex with the new Smooth X control and the new DMG Mori CTX Beta 800 TC with the Siemens 840 D.

do any of you have any experience with either of these machines?

No experience with those. But, just looked at the Okuma Multus U a few weeks ago and thought it was really nice machine.

We've been checking out the Multus U too. A Multus U3000-1500 2SW (twin spindle, twin turret) In fact, we are about ready to place the order (along with software to drive it :) ).

I don't have experience with the machine your asking about but I have experience with Mazak and Siemens 840D. I can tell you 2 things, Mazatrol will be more user friendly and 840D is far superior in capability and programming.

840D, user definable variables = awesome subprograms (or as the Fanuc world calls them, macros).

840D is machine tool specific and I've never seen Mori's tool management. As far as gripes that's what bugs me. Mazak, you snap a tool in the pocket, define it in the tool file, put the data in and it's ready to touch off. 840D with Grob and Heller have a list of additional steps. And if your tools have data tags... oh sh!t.
