Indicator Checks

My boss is asking me to put indicator checks into the program for our rookie operators.

I have never done anything like this, I'm looking for a way to prgram them in and i am not having any luck with it.

He wants me to put this in where it forces the operators to check certain things on each part. rather it be a milled edge or

contour or even a bored hole.

I was thinking of placing points in a program and using drill cycle and calling up a "dummy" tool and selecting these points and

having an optional stop after each point so then at each optional stop they can hand wheel down check the feature and then cycle

start to next optional start.

has anyone ever programmed anything in like this?

running Mcam X9 with 3 milltronics machines

Thanks

You could use the point toolpath then write a comment in lower left of the tool parameters page.

Or you could use a manual entry, write what ever code sequence you need then put your comments in parenthesis.

Would you be allowed to write separate programs?  This way once a certain program is finished you could have them manually move to locations and check the part.  We did this all the time at my old job.  Of course this means that the operator has to physically move to location by either hand wheeling the indicator into position or using the MDI function on the machine (assuming it has MDI)

Easy

Manual entry.

Do something like this in a manual entry:

G28 G91 Y0

M00
(FLIP ENDS  )

This stops the program and adds a comment

You can put this between toolpaths with the same tool as long as you do a force tool change on the next toolpath.

You can also add a x move to get it away from the quill. Just add it before the M00.

As CJEP said, use point operation. It is much better than manual entry.
