Importing ops from Job Setup

I am having problem when I import operations from Job Setup. For some reason it changes the tool in imported operation.

Let's say if I am importing a simple countour operation(using 1/4" flat end mill) from file A to a new file B, the tool in file B shows up as 1/6" ball cutter.

I don't understand where this 1/6" ball cutter is coming from? confused.gif

Does anyone else have this problem??

There is an easy fix for this, when you import operations, don't use Job Setup. Instead, open the operations manager, right click anywhere in the white window, and select Get From Library. Select the operation(s) you want, and it will import the correct tool.

Mark,

I just had the oppertunity to import the Job Setup information from an existing file. Of course, if you import the tools first, than the operations, you will have the tools available. However, you will still have to go back through your operations and reassign the correct tool! tongue.gif

It would save so much time / trouble if things just worked right. I know the 'work around' is always to go back and fix things manually. But, if the function dosn't work right, why not just do it manually to begin with. Or find somthing that does work right!

No need to post a file, it happens with any file that has an existing toolpath.

  • Open a new file
  • Job setup
  • Import from... (file with tools, toolpaths)
  • Select all tools and toolpaths
  • Import
  • Done

Now check out the tools in the toolpaths. They are different then the original file. (i.e. a roughing toolpath that had a .500 endmill in the original file now has a .250 ballmill in the new file.) Granted I havent tried this in V8.1 but I think Kathy did.

James,

I won’t even go there on clothing.

I work for the company so is not fair.

I think I have all of the Mastercam Pen’s.

1 Cross black and gold ballpoint with a gold CNC software logo.

2 Cross black and gold with gold Mastercam logo on the clip.

2 Parker red and white Mastercam logo pens

And the prize only released in Europe Blue rubber with chrome shirt clip black and red Mastercam logo.

I also have the two of the first Mastercam mousepads Black with the stripe.

The really hard to find 5.25 floppy disk holders with Mastercam CNC programming system on it.

I realize that it is not fair to talk about clothing but I got most of the pens disk holder and mouse pads as a user. I also have my first Mastercam manuals v3.0. All of the manuals and application guides.

Including February 1991 Version 3.20 MASTERCAM Applications Manual.

I could go on but won’t.

I would not have brought this up but hey you started it.

you know what i was programming last night and went into job setup and inported the ops from the job i was working on.

the only thing i ran into is that it wanted to make another set of tools but the right size and tool.

so i would just delet those and use the ones i hade inported for the ops in the first place.

and no problem saved me tones of time .

just my 2 cents.
