i have a part which have many island on the surface.

when i try milling, i find the MCX keep retracting between chains. and  the tool keep going up and down, cutting air.

is there any way to avoid the retract actions??

i try to add some points between the chains for guiding the tool not retracting, but MCX seems not smart enough to know what i want it to do.

The program is doing what you are telling it. Rapid moves are not "cutting air" they are fast moves between the areas you are cutting.

If you are looking for a better motion for roughing that part you should use pocket instead of multiple contour paths. You can even have finish passes in pocket.

No Mastercam isn't smart enough to read your mind, its up to you to be smart enough and tell it what you want the software to do.
