Drill point sorting question

I have a part with 6000 small holes in it (.015) they are organized in rows, inside of a round pocket, like a shower head. I want to drill them in a "spiral" type pattern so that it follows the outermost diameter BC and works inward all around the part.

 

None of the Sorting patterns seem to be giving me what I want. Even the "rotary" style ones just start from one end and work across the part in a zig-zag fashion.

With that many hole, wouldn't you save cycle time if you used point to point ?

May not be a spiral like your hopping for, (IMHO) but it would be quicker cycle time wise..

I'm with RonC...

 

Sort/Point-to-Point/Select Start Point... let Mastercam select the shortest distance/pattern between holes.

The rotary sort gives good results if the points are in a circular pattern, but not if they are in straight rows, even if it is a round shaped grid.

I yet have to change the drilling order to something else than the default point-to-point, which is the fastest. After all, who doesn't want the drilling to be as quick as possible??

+1 on the point to point but what kind of material are you cutting? You may not want 6000 holes in one single operation.
