opening a solidworks file in mastercam 2017

Recommended Posts

Little help with this please.

When I open a solidworks file on 2017 it puts me into Design mode then I have to go and select my default mill every time I do this.

It doesn't take ling just kind of annoying more than anything.

Anyone know a permanent fix to this?

I have a few workarounds on this but I hate workarounds.

thanks for the help

If that's true, it sucks.

Seems to be that's what it does if you import anything other than a Mcam file or a SWorks file that has Mcam toolpaths embedded in it.

You know what they say about trying to please everybody.

One would think that the settings that we have in the config on what "module" we would like to have active on startup would also be active when opening files. Sheesh. How stupid.

Yeah this is the absolute dumbest "feature" next to the UI overhaul for the sake of looks.

Can't please everyone? How about pleasing 90% of your userbase for starters.  How many of us here when programming for a mill or a lathe EVER go into design mode?

Besides it's not that hard to switch to a different machine.

I sure do hope it's just a bug.  It was logged as one just in case
