Any quick way to set up a library from scratch??? Converting from text takes too long, so does entering data tool by tool.

I was thinking of using turbo pascal or basic to generate the text tool file from a list of tool diameters and material types. If any one else has done anything similar I would love to hear about it.

BC, aren't you able to use the tool and material library instead of making a completely new one?

 

I add tools and materials as we go along and save them to the library.

I use my custom libraries specific for main material groups like copper ,plastic,mold steels,hardened steels,allum. and so on .

Never use calculate from material .

Speeds and feeds,dimensions of tools are for a

specific tool.Speeds and feeds tested .

I make my libraries from the first day .

It`s a constant process and makes your work fast and nice .

When I make a new tool i first input approx.speeds and feeds like this 80*1000/3.14/16

and press enter .

Very simple and fast .

After testing I update the entry.

Your speeds -feeds generator or calculate from material will never take to account type of coating ,fluet geometry ,rigidity and many other factors .

I may accept it for drills ,may be ,but who need it for drills ?

Speeds for drills 5780/diameter for me if that HSS drill for molds steel.

 

This is my humble opinion and I would never trust a generated library with calculate from material .

There's a mod you can make to either the .txt or the .cfg file, that will create a menu item called Make lib, in the NCUtils/Define Tools section. It was posted several months ago on this forum, but I don't remember where. I'll try to find it.

Very cool this secrets.

 

I believed that the CNC Software placed one guy that nobody liked to create this librarys.

The guy with more lates in the year would write the BIGTOOLS.TL9
