  1. You still can do that way. I do this pretty often myself. But I think you can only unselect the faces if they were picked by the face selection method (not the body selection method). You can also pick them as check faces and it will automatically remove them from the drive faces.
  2. quote: Great topic line. And from that, how was someone supposed to know what your problem was? ok, maybe it was a bad topic line. But man it's frustrating how does software get through the beta stage and into production release stage with a bug like that?
  3. I hate the fact there there are menu options that you need that are grayed out. Right now I'm trying to fill holes of a solid face with a surface and it's trying to pick a back face instead of the front one. (because sometime a while back i used that option) But why won't it let me change it now. Please someone tell me this is being fixed. There's a lot of cool things about X to make me faster but it's offset by silly things like this.
  4. Mark No answers to help you but it's good to hear from you, ole buddy
  5. I've reported each time it has asked and didn't get any response but when I started threads on the forum. mastercam reps would go back and look at the past problems through those earlier reports.
  6. wondering why if you have v9 and it works you wouldn't just use it?
  7. I wouldn't worry either. If this takes off for the guy he'll either have to add a programmer to his payroll or quit one or the other. you can be all things to all people one time or one thing to all people all the time but you can't be all the things to all the people all the time. Or something like that....
  8. I usually just copy it and then change to a new wcs. inside the operation there is a tool path parameters page go to planes and change it to the new wcs that you want
  9. I worked for a shop that had 15 seats of unicrapics, ON Maintenance at 5000 a year per seat, AND were just down the street from their world headquarters and they treated us like we didn't exist. That's why I'm on MasterCam. Those guys have been on top of every single problem I've had since installing X.
  10. colin, that worked thanks. It may not be a bug but it's aggravating that when you are in a function such as "analyze position" if it's turned off you have to get out of the function to turn it back on. I guess that's why it didn't occur to me that, that's what the problem is. And what about when your in "2d contour and you want to select a depth from the solid--you have to back out of the contour path to turn it on??? May not be a bug but it's not very well thougth out.
  11. since loading sp1 the endpoints and midpoints of solid edges won't auto-curser. auto cursor works on all 2d geo. I can't find a toggle to click it back on. Anybody know what I have set wrong?
  12. Mine sucks till I figure out how to make it stay open while I'm saving and printing. but who knows---could be me. I'm anxious to figure it out but I still have to make parts.
  13. I checked. they are set to absolute, but again it's only happening if there is one hole in the operation. I can add a hole to the operation and it works fine, then delete the orginal hole and it goes back to it's old tricks.
  14. If I'm only picking one hole my drill depth is screwed up. It won't go to the depth that is keyed in to field, neither the post or backplot. Was like this in X and xsp1 didn't fix it. Frustrated in St Louis.
  15. Mine sucks too, Dave. I was excited to get sp1, but now my printing is screwed up too. and McX keeps closing itself down, I'm thinking about going back to v9 till they get this worked out.
  16. thanks, I'll give it a shot. I did update the post and everything else seemed to be in order. I'm not sure why this one thing didn't take.
  17. this might sound dumb and I'm trusting you'll tell me if it is. but does anyone now if there is a way to gray out the drilling fields that we don't need? for example, 1st peck and 2nd peck on tapping cycle. I liked that in v9 and when you picked tapping cycle you just knew right away that it wasn't a peck cycle.
  18. Pete, I just tried that and it says there are none. I was wondering about that too. I'm glad to learn about the report feature though. when the conversion is taking place, I see flashes of dimensions that quickly disappear right over the origin even though the geometry is usually 50 inches away. that made me think they are there somewhere. but the report definitely says they are not.
  19. version X When I open an iges file exported from Cadkey, I'm not getting any dimensions, labels or leaders. When I scan the file it tells me they are there. And masking has all entities selected. I'm wondering if they are there and I'm just not seeing them. there are only 2 levels and neither have drafting entities on them.
  20. version 9 changes my tool numbers sequentially as I pull them in and changes the tool length number and dia offset number I can't get X to do that. There must be a toggle to set somewhere.
  21. yeah, but I've hit escape 1.2 billion times, though. any icon I click still tells me that I must exit current function. the error also says mc_exitfunction not responding to request.
  22. how do you unselect a drill point that you just picked?
  23. X is telling me I must exit function before I can select another icon even though there are no functions active. I can't even close mastercam and restart. Is this a bug or something I'm doing wrong
  24. Anyone know how to verify with the toolholder that I've defined in my tool library? I can only get it to use the geometry from the "holder.mc" file It stinks not being able to verify all of my holders.
