Hi I was using a PC card type ethernet connector on the laptop (client), and a crossover cable to the desktop (server). THat's where the problem is. The laptop transfer files and drip feeds using cimco perfectly, but I just can't get the network to work right and have been using floppys. The laptop doesn't have enough ram to use anything other than W95. Basically, I need a computer guy to help with this one. I don't have the patience, and win 95 is what made me switch to Mac in the first place. Thanks John

HI THanks. I agree that as long as it works, fine with me!! Now does anyone have any tips for getting a laptop (with a few keys missing) that is running windows 95 to communicate with my desktop that is running XP home?? The laptop does great for drip feeding, but feeding it floppys definitely kills the convenience factor!! Thanks John

Hi d00d It's just an epiphone Custom I ripped the pickguard thingy off of. Also threw in some EMGs in place of the gold plated pickups that came with it. Awesome guitar btw. Thanks John -
Hi Just wondering what the difference is between DNC and Drip Feed? I understand that the Drip feed feeds the control lines of code, as needed from a seperate source. What does DNC do? Are there any benefits? Thanks John

HI Before I try this, does it work on ANY post? I'd like to use it with my Haas and my Dynapath. Just seems easier than a setup sheet for the basic info. Thanks John -
HI THat sounds like what I need. I got it working, but it took me ALL DAY, most of which was spent trying to figure out why the network connection was messin' up. It works great, and I've already cut a couple of tables of parts. Thanks Again BTW here are the features on my machine you were asking about: concurrency (?) basic calc assist macros graphics advanced calc assist rigid tapping buffered input That's it. Thanks John

HI Thanks, I was just getting ready to list all the settings that I used today that worked, so I could do a search in a few months when I need to drip feed again. THanks Mark, and everyone. BTW, I gave up on the networking. I could literally watch the little network connection lite on the start menu of my mastercam desktop blink on -off -on - off, which was connecting - disconnecting -connecting -disconnecting from the laptop (which is forced to run windows 95!!). I just got so fed up I punched the laptop, and it took me about half an hour to find all the keys that flew off. I Still can't find the dang space bar!! SO, i've decided to sneakernet it to the laptop and use it ONLY for memory / hard disk space, or i'll be tempted to give that POS the final stress test by tossing into the parking lot. Thanks ALOT John

OK. Now does anyone remember how to get the dynapath set up to recieve the DNC drip feed programs?? I forgot, and can't find it in the 40 manuals I have for this machine!! GOt the laptop running CImco, and connected to the network (it can only run windoze 95, boy was that fun!!), and it will transmit the programs fine. How do I get it to drip feed?? Thanks John
-
HI Sounds good. Is this going to be a seperate program, or will it be included in the verification software? Thanks John

HI Excellent. I really like this Tree, and the only thing that bugs me is the space limitation in the control (well the restart thing kinda sucks), so hopefully this will work!! John
-
Thanks. I'm hoping to get this working today, as I have complettely run out of space in the control, for any type of multiple part programs. I guess learning how to use sub programs is next. One last thing? Is there any way to get the programs to restart in a specific spot?? The closest I can get is to start at the beginning of the last closest operation?? THanks John

Hi Thanks. DO you use any delay after each line? RIght now I'm communicating at 9600 with no delay, and programs load quick, just wondering if it will fill up the buffer too quickly. ANy chance of sending me a copy of your comm settings? Thanks John

Hi There, in the process of setting up a laptop to use for DNC'ing my larger programs to my Dynapath 20 control on my Tree VMC. ANy tips?? I know the basic process, and have no problem getting the PC and the control to communicate, but I'm wondering if there are any things to watch out for as far as how fast the PC sends the lines of code, etc. Basically I'm trying this because I need more space than the control has, so if anyone has any better ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks John

Hi COOL. I had been wondering about a better way to do this for a while now. thanks John
-
HI Can someone send me the file?? I can't FTP with my mac. email is [email protected] Thanks john

BTW, thanks for the CNCwarrior.com tip. That should help a lot. John

Hi Cool, i'll send you some big pix to your home address. I hope you have DSL. Thanks John

Hi Anyone using anything like this? it's at www.immersion.com Is it affordable? Just saw it in the new desktop engineering magazine and thought it'd be cool to have. Reverse engineering is THEEEE most time consuming part of what I do, an if I could afford somethinglike this, I'd get it. Also, does it WORK with MC?? Thanks John

Hi I have posted pictures of my Fanuc 6T control that came with my Mori Seiki SL2B lathe. I finally got it wired and running today, and need help with the panel. I do not have access to the manual, so I put digital pix up at www.hotshot.com/fanuc6t.html. If anyone can help I'd REALLY appreciate it. I also need to know how to zero out the tools, etc. Be willing to barter with free t shirts!! Thanks John Hotshot

Hi Where'd you get them, Ebay? Personally, I've found that whenever the grammar in the marketing is that bad, it is usually just a bit better than the engineering that went into making a bad copy of a good part. But hey, that's just my experience. I got my xxxx REAMED here on the forum once when asking for suggestions for cheap tools, and it stuck with me. You cannot make good parts with bad tooling. Period. Save money somewhere else. Thanks John

Hi Saw it today. WOW Not much of a religious person myself, but this movie is AWESOME. If I had to describe it to someone, I'd say it was the emotional equivalent of the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan x 10, for the whole movie!! I have literally never seen anything even remotely as powerful as this film, and again I do not consider myself a religious person. Everyone should see this. You definitely walk out of the theater differently. We went to the Matinee, there were two theatres showing it at the same times, both standing room only with lines out of the theatre for the next showing. I guess Mel Gibson's having the last laugh... Hi Even though the guy might have been funny to some here, or maybe he just had an f'ed up sense of humor, bad attitudes (like his) are contagious. There's quite a few import performance boards (my main industry) I can't even bear to visit anymore because of this exact same problem. It's the invisible wall of protection that allows you to be a total A-hole, anonymously on the internet. Of course, there will always be the core of educated people posting on the boards, asking AND answering questions, but you end up having to wade through sooooo much garbage from idiots to get to anything useful, It just gets more frustrating than informative. Hopefully it won't happen here. I bet if this fool had payed for his seat of MC out of his own pocket he'd appreciate this forum a little more. I know i do. Just my .02 John

Hi I'm in the same boat, and have heard that Lathes are easier to run, but I just got one here, and it's got me nervous! At least the MC lathe software looks simple, once you get into it. John PS The monkey is swinging so FAST he just appears to be moving backwards, right?

Hi Thanks for all the suggestions. The lathe is here, in place, and waiting to be wired. I can't believe this thing is listed as drawing 80 amps!! Whoa!! I plan on printing this topic and taking it withme when I go tool shopping. There's a place down the street that sells surplus and auctin tools, and I'm sure I'll be able to tool up cheap and start cutting right away. Thanks John
