  1. No. It stopped and waited for me to continue on. When I did continue there wasnt anything showing a gouge.
  2. Are there parameters somewhere to determine what to consider gouging vs a heavy corner cut? Using the rest machining option after area clearance and the backplot shows ok, but in verify its stopping at a gouge point. Verify isnt showing any red area, just stopping the tool there. Its about a 30 hr operation and I am wondering what to expect when it reaches that point. Are there parameters to adjust somewhere to determine gouge vs heavy cut? Thanks in advance.
  3. Use ramp and set it up with plunge and it will go back and forth.
  4. Whats this asking for at the machine? Errors out. Cant remember what it means. Thanks
  5. Two high school kids at $6.50 and hour.
  6. How about the Detroit/Toledo area? All I ever hear about is how hot Washington is. Has the Motor City died out for the machine shops? The only person that I know of from that area is Thad. Any others?
  7. Thank you for the suggestions, I will pass this information along to my customer. Yes, having them exploded first seems to help also. Any ideas about the overlapping surfaces? This is difficult to work with in Mcam, and Im trying to cut molds, not just slab cut surfaces. I was told not to worry about them the cutter will just "roll" over it. This is true to a point, but what about when Im picking corners out... Thanks again.
  8. I have a feeling its more of a matter of the settings when the file is exported from the native. It seems to come and go depending on who sends saves and sends over the files. Thank you.
  9. I am having a real bad time trying to import these files into our system. I tried bringing them into MCam from the native, step, iguess, etc. etc. with nothing but bad results. I have tried to import the files into Solidworks and they dont come in much cleaner. When I do get them to "look" cleaner, I dump them to MCam and they still appear wrong. The surfaces all have .001 to .005 edge overlaps at the minimum. Is this a setting from the native Mech. Desktop export that is causing such a lousy file? I have downloaded all the latest and greatest for the MCam side of AutoDesk but it doesnt seem to help with my import problems. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  10. C180 machines great, sucks to drill. I back my rpms down about 30% and feed like a sissy with .025 pecks.
  11. I use Reckds FileMerge and Scomm to send multi-files to the Haas mills. Strips the % sign, squashes the program together, and then re-seperates them at the control. Works great and he doesnt even charge you for it! Look on the ftp its there somewhere, NC Merge, Scomm.
  12. Look in your gap settings in the parameters. See where it says tangential arc radius and tangetial arc angle; they are set to 90 inches. Knocked these down to around 2" and your problem goes away. HTH
  13. I had to do a workaround once for this; one of the tools I found to be of great help was Ernies hole axis c-hook. I had a part in a rotary, with 45 degree angles to drill in the x-plane. Used a standard view and was able to program point to point. I was also told I would need a custom post to"do it right", using the block definition available for the heads. If you get real creative you can find a cheap work around for the occasional need.
  14. quote: I've built a couple of 5x double rotary posts lately Whata geek. In all seriousnes, where in the world do you guys learn this stuff? I cant even get H and T numbers to match when I want to mess with the post.......Hi Im gcode, Machinist/MasterCam guru/C+ programmer/nuclear physicist/pornstar/etc. etc. Im sooooooo jealous.
  15. hmmm....yes.......see the long line on your hand? I see backup files in your future.... If you have them you could just overwrite your originals.
  16. You kind of get that look like someone finally told you the answer to the meaning of life when you finally understand what that little WCS icon actually does. Now you wont know how you lived without it.
  17. Yes this is Meldas control. Any more information that you can offer on this would be appreciated.
  18. I dunno guys, fastest i can get it to take a program is at 1200 bps. Dont know what can be done about it, but thanks for the info.
  19. 1995 control, mitsubishi, 62 meg ram. How do I Dnc to this?

  21. Not trying to be smart, but you do have the boxes checked on the left side to enable them, dont you?
  22. This happened to me about 3 weeks ago; 1" Ballnose, Surface Rough pocket, verify good .125 doc, .25 stepover, etc etc. 3/4 of the way down big loud noise. Tool slipped down about 1/4 inch. Someone had ground the flat on the tool with a pedestal grinder. The screw wasnt even making full contact with the flat. This wasnt in our shop; Live and learn. You might want to see if it happened to you.
  23. I had to change what hotkeys the thing was looking for. Re-map them that was it. Works like a charm. Thank you for the help.
