It appears that saving info is just like programming MC. There is more than one way to skin a cat.
Thanks for the input. If anyone else has more info about saving files please feel free to ive more ideas. It amazes me how we do different thing to get to the same place.
Only in America.
I am using a stand alone computer basicly the only one programing.The owner is screaming for file to be backed up, which I can understand. I want to do this so that I want have 10-20 cd's laying around then trying to find the file on one of those cd's. With multiple copy's of the same program with different changes made to each program file.
It can get real sloppy, real fast, if you don't try to stay with the least # of backup cd's.
Does this make any sense?
I would like to get some feedback on how others on the forum do routine backup of their MC files.
I have a cd burner with Roxy cd software.
I want to save, files once a week, to make a backup cd of thefiles that are on my hardrive.
What I would like to do is use the same cd(rewritable) everytime. Basic only saving the files that have changed during that week.
I don't know whether to use the roxy software or Win backup to make my backup cd.
Thanks
Rob
I have blindly made to the point that I NEED HELP. I have a part posted on the ftp site named RB.mc9 in the MC9 folder. I have 3 things that I can't get right.
1st;
There is an undercut of .025 on each side of the blade. You can see that I have an undercut on one side but not the other. The side that doesn't have the undercut wouldn't trim the body to the undercut.
2nd;
The top of the blade that is color#3 needs to be taper 1.5 deg from bottom to top per side. You can
The taper needs to start at the intersection of blue and yellow faces.
3rd;
I need to put a .079 radius along the top of the fin.
I have tried using draft faces to get the taper that I need. But haven't had any success.
If anyone can help with my problems please explain how you went about fixing the drawing.
Can anyone help a brother out!!!!
Thanks
I need help trimming surfaces or solids on a part that I uploaded on to the ftp site. I just can't get what I need to happen.
The file is in folder named "MC9 files" program ids named RB.mc9.
I have some notes listed on the drawing as what I am trying to trim. If anyone could help I would be thankful to you.
If you can't access the ftp site. Email me and I will send you a copy of the file. Or If you need more info. I will be watching the forum and email for questions.
Thanks
Rob
Does anyone no where I can get the technical info. for an erickson collet(TG 150 series). I ned to know the angle, dia and length. I'm needing to make a toolholder to fit this collet size.
I had this problem. Jorge is correct. Although I have the option active on my parameter screen, it doesn't produce any changes when I post my program.
I'm using MPMaster post.
Thought I would send my 2 cent worth. On scond thougt,maybe it was just a penny's worth.

I looked at your drawing. That would work but, I need to rough flute with .625 mill, then use 8mm ball to do fillet. Real don't want to use surfaces if I can get away with it.
Chip,
That we are.
We have been making them for several yrs with straight flutes. Now a customer wants to go with spiral flutes.
I have done the spiral flute drills yrs ago. We done them on V5.5. At that time I drew everything 2d broke the tool path in the spots where I wanted the 4th axis to start to rotate, then stop it 90deg x "X distance". This works but very time consuming to and edit all the rotation moves by hand. Not to mention if you miss one or need to change something. Then you have to go back and re-edit all over again.
When I done these before, I would feed do offcenter in "Y", then move into part in "Y", then I would do the rotation move, then stopthe rotation just short of end of part, then finish with an "X" move so I have a flat to put insert.
As for the F0.0. I leave my feedrate set to "F0.0" because if I use the standard feedrate for my cutter, it post a feedrate that is to fast for the cutter.
After I post the program, I will go inprogram and change all F0.0 to correct feedrate.
I know I am doing a lot BS here. But I'm doing what I can.
I will be greatful for any help!!!!!!
I have got my spiral flute drill drawn. But I need some help with a couple of things. First thing is I want to feed into my part with a "Y axis move", then I need the 4th axis to rotate as cut in "X axis". All I can get done is axis substution, which puts my endmill coming down on top of my part.
I don't know if I have explained this well enough.
Also can someone also tell me how to adjust the feed rate for my 4th axis moves. If I am feeding at a certain feedrate on a 2d cut, then try to use the same feedrate when doing rotatry axis work, the feedrate is way to fast. Seems to me that MC isn't changing my feedrate correctly.
I have put my drawing on the ftp site: MC9Spiral Flute Drill.MC9
Still working on this project. Been on vac. and was hoping they had run the drills before I returned. No such luck!!
I have done some research on the forum and got an idea that I think will work. The only problem is I don't fully understand what I need to do. I found this link on the forum. It talks about using GENHELIX.PST. I don't understand how this is used. I have tried to use Spiral/Helex & Create a Sprial to get my flute drawn. The problem with this I can't keep my dia consisent with the dia of my part.
Here is the link to the topic that has GENHELIX.PST listed in it.
Rope geometry
Please give me some info on how to use a .pst file to create geometry.
