  1. quote: I am curious as to how many of you have ever seen a "virus" on a pc that did not have anti virus software installed? Oh yeah... I get calls from customers, friends and family members occasionally with the "my computer is acting funny"... Two of the most infected were my parents computer (oh, my step-mother had a virus scan.. I'm guessing maybe 1999 or 2000 install, no updates since then), my half sister (my father had a second generation when he remarried) had loaded Kazaa on it and the virus (I am guessing) came attached to one of the .mp3's she downloaded. That was a format and reload, nothing salvaged... The other most infected machine was a customers (again the "my machine is acting funny"), he was to the point where his desktop icons were running away from his mouse pointer (investigating the infection revealed that he had the virus for approx 3 months to get to that point. The damage done was so severe we ended up replacing the hard drive altogether. I look at folks that use the internet and email without virus scan software like I do folks driving at night without their headlights on. You may not crash for a while, but sooner or later you will.
  2. quote: Speak of the devil LOL You know I am only allowed 2 posts per month.... Oh damn... This means I am shut off until September...
  3. If you want to disable this feature, go to the Setup dropdown, select Global Setup and uncheck the box next to "Check external changes" on the General tab. I would also suggest taking a moment to download and install the latest Cimco OEM editor (4.32.18) Here.
  4. The ability to do custom sorting based upon user specified values would be great. If that can't be done, how about sorting by comment?
  5. 617 is a Massachusetts area code... Oh, and BTW, we are the reseller in the area P.S. New company website is http://www.s4a.us www.services4automation.com will be redirecting to the new site soon. [ 07-24-2003, 04:24 PM: Message edited by: Paul Decelles - Services4Automation ]
  6. Hi, my name is Paul and I am a Mastercamaholic... It all started many years ago, back when Motley Crue was the new group on the block.....
  7. Heya Chris, sry for the quick reply last night, I typed it during a commercial while watching Stargate SG1... To be honest, I never sat down with the file, Pete had it on his PC and I looked quickly and saw the problem you were having. My suggestion for changing the DOC was meant as a simple fix. reducing the amount by several thousands obviously would leave more on the wall for the last pass, checking the box for equal depth of cuts also seemed to give the same effect. Trevors solution definately seems to be the better way to go however. I better go now, don't want to use up my allotted yearly number of postings in 1 thread... BTW, check out the new website, it's finally getting to the stage where we can replace the old one. New Site We'll have to see if we can't get a picture of your good side next time... (hmmm. on second thought, maybe that is your good side... )
  8. Woo Hoo ! --- 10 posts Watch out Peter, I just may decide to post more often and over take your post count =P
  9. The problem in the file is with the depth of cut value. Decreasing or increasing the value will result in more (or less) stock being left on the wall for the final pass.
  10. Oh man, their goes the secret identity.... No more Clark Kent / Superman ....
  11. This almost certainly sounds like a memory issue to me. Check you allocations and make sure they haven't been set to an absurd level. Master cam grabs whatever you set and keeps it for it's own greedy use so if you have other applications running (and the screen saver is a good one to mention, especially the really cool 3d XP one) you will very quickly run out of memory. The type of memory installed may also be at issue if the new motherboard is not actually meant to run with it (using 133 Mhz when the board only supports 100 Mhz for example). But I'm guessing it is an allocation issue.
  12. I was thinking it was more like a big bag of s##t, but maybe I am just being critical seeing that I work with the best damned CAD/CAM software in the world
  13. Thought I'd add a little humor into the thread, my father sent me a short video clip that had me rolling with laughter. I've posted it up on the internet, here is a link (You will need sound for this).... Click Here Enjoy...
  14. Just want to qualify the "Avoid MX types" a bit. The MX 200 is the version to avoid, this is the bottom end configuration. The MX 400 cards work just fine with Mastercam, in fact, the 5 demo machines in the corporate Mastercam booth at Eastec all had MX400 cards in them and they performed very well (having a 2Ghz p4 with 512meg of RAM didn't hurt either...).
  15. Here in the office we run primarily all Win2K machines (laptops and desktops) with varying hardware (we try new video cards, processors, and other pieces as they become available). We also have a machine running Win XP Pro that has been rock solid since we installed the OS on it. At home I have a Dell with a 1.5 Ghz P4 and 256 Meg of PC800 RDRAM that originally came with Win Me. After reloading the O/S on that machine 5 times I finally gave up on Me. Last weekend I added a RAID controller card, a second 40 GB HD and Win XP Pro. What an amazing difference! I would have to say that it boots up about 5 times faster than it did and with the RAID 0 configuration, downloads and installs are also much quicker (the whole XP install only took 20 minutes). So far I am very impressed with XP, it gives you the stability of Win 2k and the ability to Quake... [ 03-01-2002, 09:33 AM: Message edited by: Paul Decelles - Services4Automation ]
  16. You know, working here with Pete, I believe his twelve step program includes at least three steps of staring at either his Sports Illustrated Swinsuit Calandar or hot chicks on the internet... Just my 2cents...
  17. hey superfly, it sounds like you have an older build of the editor, download the latest Mastercam OEM CIMCO editor. www.cimco-integration.com That should take care of your printing problems. If you still have problems, email [email protected] .
