  1. The screwiest thing just happened. Simple profile. 50% lead ins and outs. Tangent. No workie. I get nuttin... What's up with THAT???
  2. Thanks Rob but that was me screwing up an edit. The S value was there when I ran it.
  3. Here's what my post oputputs: N120 G00 G40 G49 G80 G90 G28 Z0 T3 M06 ( NO. 4-40 TAPRH TOOL - 3 DIA. OFF. - 3 LEN. - 3 DIA. - .112) G00 G90 G54 X1. Y-.125 S1200 M03 G43 H3 Z.1 M08 G99 G84 Z-.35 R.1 F30.0 1200, R1 X5.5 G80 Now. It goes to X1.0 and Y-.125 and the spindle it turning. It gets there and the spindle turns off and it does a tap cycle with no spindle on.... What the heck???
  4. I got this Akira Seiki with a meldas 64 control. Does this thing just do a regular G84 for rigid tapping? or do I gotta do sumpin like Fanuc does with the M29? Anyone got a sample of some code?
  5. More than that....I got quoted $345k
  6. RPN = reverse polish notation I have a pair of HP41cv's one right here on my desk and another one whereever I left it in the shop. NO one in the shop has a CLUE how to use it. They don't even TRY any more. Snerk... The full nut in the office has a financial, machine , math and advantage module in it. The other is a half nut.
  7. quote: Jim yeah he is I just have never heard or worked with him in my years doing applications I just dont know if he is blowing smoke up marks butt or if he realy is talented. please keep that kind of quite. Im just trying to get a feel for him Hmmmm.... This could influence a decision on a Daewoo horiz.
  8. Look in backplot .... I'm not kidding. Snerk...
  9. Well...machine def, control def.... That ain't QUITE the same thing as a Post, now is it? Call yur reseller!! Oh...Nice measured response Ron! Good thing John hasn't been here yet...
  10. Well. I don't know if I can pull a three quarter million dollar machine. That's a big bite... I'm still looking at a couple of other machines. But there IS the fact that a Makino WILL draw business. Jeebers the pros and cons can make ya crazy.
  11. Yea. I hears the same thing about the new DCG Moris being touted as designed by the head Makino guy. I also know of at lease three shops locally that had DCG Mories that have moved to Makinos Things that make ya go Hmmmm...
  12. I'm not against balancing tools Colin, I was just under the impression that it wasn't required under 10k or so. The 8K thing is that we want to market this machine strictly at hard, difficult to machine materials. That's the spindle that comes on it.
  13. I've got 5 machines and just use the free Cimco editor. I got switch boxes.... I'd also like to upgrade to a more automated system. My reseller also deals in RYM systems I believe. I saw a demo about a year ago and it is impressive...
  14. Colin I was intending to be at the forum but got lost in what day it was... That happens around here. I am starting to realize Makino's are expensive. I also know we will need a presetter and I don't think I'm going to need a balancer as this is an 8K rpm machine I can get you the specs.
  15. Rick Yes they are VERY nice machines. We saw a couple cells at Primus and another shop in Auburn. Just down the street from Primus. I just wasn't expecting a 3/4 million dollars. I think I can get these guys to sharpen their pencils and I have to look long and hard at the ROI We're also supposed to look at a couple of Mori's Vince Selway also called to talkk to us about a Matsuura and a Toyoda.
  16. We're still shopping a horiz. Looked at a couple of Makinos. A81M We are looking at expanding our market share in hard to machine materials. I had thought 500mm machine but a 630 really is starting to make sense. Got a quote yesterday... Sticker shock... almost $700k. full 4th, 1000psi through, conveyers, memory, 137 tools, broken tool sensor ($15k!!!), TLO probe ($17k!!!), spindle probe for $15k, I thought charging $1200 for helical interpretation on a $450k machine a little odd... They tell me a pallet pool is $250 to $350k.... Am I nutz (don't answer that...) or is this a tiny bit high?
  17. Working on the cable as we speak.... Well, I'm not, but somebody is...
