If this is a newer machine, the ways dont use way oil. It's grease.
there is an air valve that opens and cycles the grease pump.
Both of our VM2's have had issues with that valve.
We have two VM2's
They both have spindles that move around with temp. I warm them up in themorning, and if I have to do anything closer than a couple thou in Z it's a total crap shoot.
Which is pretty strange to me. My 2000 mini is very accurate.
These VM's are a 2011 and a 2012.
Another thing they do is if I move the Z by .0001, it won't more for a couple tree clicks. Then it'll move a half thou.
I've been using Dascool 2357 for about 5 years now
Used to use S500. Foamed toooo much
Tried Cimcool, Castrol, Blazer, Et all. Most of them caused my hands too much grief.
Been very happy with Dascool.
Not real easy to find, but well worth it
Uh
Brae
Siv
I HATE cutting that stuff
And I get to a lot...
200 or so SFM
Ron's chip loads are jsut about what I run
If you are drilling a lot of holes, use carbide drills. .063 holes, I'd be pecking about every .05 just to clear the chips
You'll likely need to ream them to size if your tol is tight
I use carbide reamers to get a little life out of them
My experience is that it's a lot like Nitronic 60. I've used Carbide or Ceramic. It's a pain, but you'll get through it.
I just realized you're talking about a turned part.
Ceramict for sure.
I had an SL10. Still have a Doosan 220a. The Doosan will run the same program about 25% or so faster than the Haas.
I'll happily admit I got a lemon from Haas. And I'll also admit my Mini just runs and runs. But I got a real bad taste in my mouth from Haas.
The two VM2's here at work haven't made me feel any better about them either.
We have two VM2's where I work now.
A 2011 and a 2012. both have had multiple service calls. The 2011 has had a new main motor and spindle put into it. The 2012 has had a new Z ball screw put into it. The bottom bearing carrier was not pinned from the factory. That was a couple months ago. It's making ugly noises again.
We're looking at getting a horizontal to support production as well as build hard tooling for our two Engle injection mold machines. It's not going to be a Haas.
I had an SL10 Haas that was an absolute nightmare. I also have a 2000 Mini. It just keeps on running. But I have not had good exepriences with newer Haas machines.
I would absolutely NEVER attemt to tap anything with either of these two machines. How crazy is THAT???
I have a Doosan 220a
Very good bang for the buck
Strong and fast.
Been making money fro me since 2006.
I think it's had one service call. And that was to put a new window in it when an operator put a reamer through it...
He don't work here no more.
Doosan is a great choice
I have one of their turning centers and I make a lot of money with it.
I have a 2412 Sharp VMC. box ways. It's a little tractor. Has a Fanuc 0iMc control on it. 16 tools and 10k spindle.
I think I paid something like $48k for it in 06. Has AI Nano, fully 4th ready. I think it has something like 120 blocks of look ahead.
I'm back in the dark ages using X3, so bear with me. I am editing my MPLFAN post so as to output R values as opposed to Is and K's
What post value do I change?
I would have thought it would have been arctype$ but that isn't doing it.
Any help would be most appreciated.
This is to get somewhat useable code for a Hardinge turett lathe with an Analam 4200T control
X3. Level 3
I do work form Pro E. I get files as STEP files of assemblies. I then put eash part on it's own level. That's all fine.
If I translate or rotate, The geo returns to level 1 and there is a copy of the solid on the individual level. Also I can only draw on level 1.
Anyone care to venture a guess as to why this is going on?
