  1. Thanks guys, the display rapid moves was it.
  2. Do you mean under settings, config, backplot?
  3. How come when I backplot in MR2 the tool doesn't start and end at the clearance height?
  4. I'm the only user of mastercam at my facility. The other four programers all use cimitron. They've all seen me editing my posts and they asked me to show them how to edit theirs. We make changes in the post file and save it, but when we post a program the changes don't take effect. How do we make the changes stick? Thanks a million in advance.
  5. Why do some functions let you "escape" out of them and others don't, is what I want to know.
  6. I never set my filter tolerance above .0005 Just my 2 cents worth
  7. I switched over to X the day I recieved it and I was given the chance to start uxing it immediately. I've had to go back to 9 a couple of times to get old programs but I usually copy and paste the geometry and write new toolpaths. Versing 9 just seems so generic when you look at it after running X for a while. I love X
  8. Welcome aboard friend, everyone here is very helpful.
  9. Pete, The way you explain it sure helps. It makes alot more sense to me now. Thanks a million for all the responses guys. I really appreciate the help.
  10. That does help. I don't have to exit the trim function and simplify them first that way. I'm already in trim so all I have to do is extend them and them trim them. But It would be nice if they would just trim together without the extra work. I would think that an entity is an entity and that they would trim together no matter if they were overlaping or not. Thanks for the help though. That does make it a little easier.
  11. For the longest time I've had trouble trimming entities one to another. Sometimes I project lines to a z lvl to use for a boundary but I get an error that says the selected entities do not intersect. I finally figured out that some of these entities are splines and some are lines. If I simplify the splines then I can trim them together no problem. Am I doing something wrong here. Is there some kind of setting that will fix this problem. To me an entity is an entity. They should trim together if their on the same z height. Pleas help.
  12. Hasn't crashed here for about a week or so. When I first started using X it crashed at least 10 times a day, so I kinda feel Randals pain. I got 1 more gig of ram and that seemed to help. But I think the biggest problem was the iges files I was using. I started using dxf files and really havn't had very many crashes at all.
  13. I had this happen to me once but I wasn't using the rotary table. A couple of my programs jumped over 1". Look in your planes box on the toolpath parameters page and make sure x y and z filds are at 0. If you enter anything in these fields it offsets your work offset that much. HTH
  14. No problem Mike. I did already check the options box. I have everything checked so nothing gets left out. Didn't help. Oh well. Our designer acted like it wasn't a big deal for him to put an autocad drawing on the network. I just hate having to go to him on every job I get. Part of it I quess. Thanks for the help though.
  15. I talked to our designer and he said that he'd put a dxf file on the network for me whenever I wanted. I imported the file that I was working on that way and it came in fine. Thanks for the response Mike. I need all the help I can get
  16. That post was mine. The main problem I had then was importing igs part models. I now recieve them as stp files and don't have a problem. However, all of the drawing files we use are on the network as igs files. I've never had a problem in the past with these importing correctly. I figure I must have changed something accidently in the MD or CD. I've been trying differen't things with them latley. But I really don't see what either of those files would have to do with importing igs files.
  17. Our designer here creates the drawings we use in Auto-Cad. He creates threaded holes by clicking and dragging "blocks" of entities that make up the threaded holes, which are already drawn and saved. When he finishes a drawing it gets saved to the network under the job # as an igs file. When I import them into X, it doesn't import the "blocks". How can I get it to import these properly? Thx in advance.
  18. John, Thanks so much. I knew there had to be a way to do this. I called my support tech a couple of months ago and they said you couldn't do this in X. But I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask on the forum. Thanks again. That will save me a ton of time in the future.
  19. Is there a way to edit your' tools in their library in X. In version 9 you could click NC utilities, Def tools, Library and edit what ever tool you wanted. That way everytime you pulled that tool in it was already programed correctly. In X I have to edit the tools every time I pull one in. I'm just trying to find more ways to save time. Thanks for the help in advance.
  20. I have the same problem. What I do is to reload my toolbar state. I hope somebody can figure this out.
  21. It's going to be a while before I get to that point. I still need to order the threadmill and rough out the stock. I really appreciate all the help though.
  22. Thanks again for the info. That clears up a few more items that I wasn't quite sure about. I'm gonna try a scrap piece of aluminum for the first time around, just to be on the safe side. That way I can make sure I get the speed and feed close and the size right before I run an actual part. I'm working on a personal project and only have enough material for one. So I can't afford any mistakes.
  23. Thanks a million. That's much better. I guess everything else looked good?
