I am trying to finish a slight undercut on a surface and the operation wants to cut straight down the wall and wont allow me to under cut. I am not using a stock model, just want to add a quick toolpath to the part. I tried scallop, contour and hybrid, and all have similar results. on contour I clicked detect undercuts and it still wants to cut straight.
i use mcam 2019 because I am too lazy to update
The part will be centered on the Y axis, but not on the Z. I am trying to machine this detail using a dividing head tombstone setup on our vmc mill. I program everything from the center of rotation.
Thanks Ron, I would like to try the rolldie to see if it works out, but in reality my safest option might be to re-fixture it to the center line. too bad there wasnt a feature to adjust the center of rotary diameter and still keep your plane to the center of the rotary axis
Yes that would be an option, would rather have square corners if possible. im looking at the rolldie chook now, do you think this would work? It dosn't look exact in backplot, looks a bit closer in verify. might have a couple settings off
I have a part to machine that has engraving around a radius using a rotary axis. I would normally use axis substitution to do this, but for this part the radius is not going to be centered on the rotary axis. is there a way to do this without the multiaxis option for mastercam?
Thanks
My Y axis travel is limited but is there a way to cut the linear moves in xy, and use c to cut the arcs? I would need to keep it in the xy+ plane, i dont have much y- travel at all
I am trying to mill a pocket detail on the face of a part using c-axis, the wall finish is very choppy looking, what do i need to change to make it smoother?
yes if I chain the full geometry and define the tool to offset to the center line it should work, take a bit longer on the machine but not a big deal. I have it programmed now, but next time i will try that.
I thought about that but i would have to mess around with adjusting the length of the contour on certain letters to keep everything even. probably just as easy to do what im doing
I have a cad file with quite a few letters to engrave. The letters are true-type and too small to go with line center on existing geometry. I am currently offsetting rhe geometry to create centerlines for my toolpath, but is a bit time consuming. Is there a quicker way to do this?
I have few parts to make out of corian, just wondering if anyone has any experience with this? From what i have read it sounds like I should be able to run similar speeds and feeds as aluminum, just not sure if it would be better to run it dry, or should I use coolant.

Wont let me modify the .ini file, must be something in windows that i have to change to allow me to modify files. Thanks for the reply, I will look into it tomorrow
Just wondering if it is possible to use nethasp with vpn? It dosnt work for me now, just wondering if there is somthing i have to set up to allow this to work? Solidworks works fine but i cant get mastercam to work
