I am yet to see a Quadro last for 5 years. We have 6 dell Precision workstations, purchased less than 5 years ago. Every video card had to be replaced due to over heating (fan came apart) I dont know if Dell fixed this problem or not. We also have 3 or 4 precision laptops that have had video card problems, not sure if that was from the fan or not, but it was heat related

Not bad for a system that costs about 1/4 the price of a good Dell Precision
Also ATI Video cards seem to work much better with MasterCam then they used to. I didn't have to adjust any settings or switch any drivers to get this card to work good.
I have my sim home for the weekend, but dont have the sample parts installed on my home pc. I also dont have the install disk at home. Is there somewhere I can download the file from so I can benchmark my home pc?
One of the quadro video cards went in a Dell precision, and we had a few 9800 gt's at the shop, so I replaced the quadro with a 9800 gt, and I actually find it works better with the gaming card.
Just as a update we did purchase the Lang setup We also bought a 2 sided tombstone for the vises to mount to. After 1 month of use I am very impressed with the quality and functionality of this setup. It makes for much faster setups, and much greater repeatability from our old setups. Also having the tombstone, basically turns our machine into a horizontal mill, so chip removal on a large part is no longer a issue. I will post some pics next week of some of our setups.
I am starting to try different tool Paths, and one of my favorite toolpaths so far is dynamic mill. One of the parts I am working on has a deep pocket (over 5") and the only roughing tool we currently have with that kind of reach is a 1.25" Sanvik inserted endmill with .25rad button inserts. My question is, would there be any advantage of using dynamic mill if my max depth is only .25" On backplot the regular pocket toolpath is faster, until I reach 250ipm on the dynamic pass.
You shouldnt need a software program to create your macros, they are easy to create, and there should be a book that came with your probe with all the functions, if not, you can get a renishaw training manual. I think our probe came with all the macros on a floppy disk, to load in the machine.
If you send the file to my e-mail I can put the toolpath on it for you. If you don't want to share it, I can create a similar solid with toolpath, so you can see how the toolpath works.

To cut the od try 3d contour The 3d contour I am thinking about just controls the tip of the tool, it dosn't tilt the head to cut a draft angle. Is there another 3d contour that will allow you to cut a draft angle? I had to look at the pic from my iPhone, because it is blocked at work, so maybe I am looking at it wrong.
This Looks like a fairly easy job for Multiaxis/swarf 5 axis use these settings
Output format: 5 Axis
Walls: use Chains - select lower, and upper chains
Tipcomp: Lower rail with a - distance number.
This toolpath will work great for the sides, and the chamfer, the only problem will be to get the square corners. if your machine has a c-axis in the table, you may have to raise the part enough to tilt the head and use a curve 5ax toolpath to clean the corners

This system was bought for e-mail, and Microsoft Office only. I decided to install mastercam, to see if it would run it ok. It works great so far, no graphics issues at all. Our best benchmark time before this was just over 3 mins on a Dell Precision m6300 intel core 2 duo t9300 @ 2.5ghz 2 gig ram and a Quadro FX 3600M video card. The Precision 670 in my sig was over 5 mins.
