  1. Good morning, I was wondering if it was possible to update the Peck % of diameter for the entire library instead of doing each drill individually. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
  2. Try True Broach Tool out of Toronto Ontario I am pretty sure they do splines on shafts. http://www.truebroach.com/
  3. We got X5 about a week ago and before that the last version of mastercam I used was X3 so I am getting use to this tree system compared to the old tab style. There are a few bugs which are quite annoying the one with the tools always changing everytime you write another path which I am being told will be fixed with MU1. Other things may not necessarily be bugs but a problem with my settings or a problem somewhere in between the keyboard I am typing on and the chair I sit in. One thing I dont understand is why is there a Inch to MM tool library but not the other way around. I am sure if it we were polled a lot of us use standard measuring tools, machines that run in inches but tap a lot of metric holes. Sure we can create the tools. But we can't use the feature in the tool create page to set our feeds directly off of our rpm. My reseller explained the best thing to do is to create the tool save to library then go set the rpm use that to set the feed copy that number edit tool and change the feed to what it should be and save again. Which is fine but now open your Tool library you have 2 tools named the same one with the correct feed one with the incorrect one. After speaking with In House about this they told me to go into the Tool manager to edit tools and resave to not get the multiple tools Seemsd like a lot of unnecessary steps. So if you edited your tools like I did in the toolpath variables and have the multiple tools. Go into your Tool manager from the Toolpath pull down at the top see your multiple tools that are named the same now right click and edit from there don't change anything just close the edit window and watch your duplicate tool move around in your list. Makes finding which tool has the correct feed and which one doesn't a major pain since I don;t know if the highlighted bar is whats is moving or if the tool is moving in the list.
  4. How is it going? Currently we are looking at a few new machines to drop on the floor one being a manual lathe and the suits above have asked me to try and get some info on Kingston manual lathes and was wondering if any of you guys havea few of these on your floor and whethere they are dust collectors or are good machines? Any and all comments are apreciated. Thanks in advance.
  5. One way to do this is create the operations and export them to a operations library then everytime you need to do a certain size hole import the operations, select your geometry, regenerate and you are good to go.
  6. Does your stock setup have a Z value? When you go into your stock setup if you put display stock as wireframe does a red box appear on your screen? Just a couple things to check before investing in a new graphic card.
  7. We are currently looking at one of these mills and was wondering if anyone here has used one and what they think about them. The draw of this machine is the size of the table and small floor area needed for such a big machine (The X axis is around 43') http://www.lagun.com/gcm/
  8. One last question though is do you think this would work with a usb flash drive installed? http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/dynex-dynex-2-port-usb-2-0-pcmcia-card-adapter-dx-uc202/10049745.aspx?path=6b5a8ce00a0030b739a1a17b8a5646f8en02
  9. SO the 2 adaptors would be USB to compact flash (for my computer) and compact flash to pcmcia (for the control)? I am guessing?
  10. Thank you. Guess the hard part now will be finding one small enough. I am just using it as a memory card so I dont have to devotye a dnc port while a large program runs. So the compact flash card is the same as a pcmcia or do I need a adaptor for my computer and one for the control?
  11. I am having a bit of a brain fart and can't for the life of me remember what the card is called that plugs into the side of the screen is called which is making it impossible to find online to order. Does anyone remeber what this card is called? Thanks for all the help and have a great weekend. Mat
  12. to get the table to go the opposite direction to B270 use B-90. and to turn the opposite way to B90 use B-270. A quick way to restart is a a N# to the line you want to restart at. Start the Tool at the beginning in single block till your length offset is called. Go into edit jump to that N# you just added go back to auto hit start. (Put the N# on a safety retract though to avoid crashes though)
  13. A work around is to create curves on all edges of your surface then untrimming the surface to get rid of the holes then retrimming your surface back to your outer edges. This will also leave curves where your holes are in case you need the geometry for later.
  14. That is for the X+ setup sheet is there one for the X+ tool list?
  15. Have you tried surface finish leftover using a parallel finish to clean up the areas that are coming out flat?
  16. The crash was definitely my fault trying to create a draft surfce to plane with the wrong cplane and away she went. I am just getting back to mcam after a year or so hiatis so a bit rusty. Thanks for the help though from all who replied.
  17. Good morning, I have been playing around with customising the X+ tool list and there is 2 questions I havent ben able to find a answer for on the forum (probably because I am using the wrong key words while doing my search). Both questions have to do with the Additional info tabs that are at the top when you hit create tool list. The additional headers have drop down which loads information directly date, programmer mcx file name and so on but one thing I don't see is NC file name. Which I would like to not have to type in each and everytime if possible. Secondly I was also wondering if it is possible to change the size of the font for the NC file name to be larger and also in bold so it sticks out a bit more on the page and is easier for the operators to find on the page. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Mat
  18. I see a option to have the mc file name added to one of the 6 headers but is there a way to have the NC file name outputted? Thanks in advance for any and all help.
  19. Well after spending my entire morning working on a file x5 kicked out on me and of course I dont use auto save so all my work is gone. Is there anyway to retrieve what was lost? x5 crasherd when I was trying to make a draft surface forgetting to change my cplane to front causing the program to hang. No warning to have the option to try and save the file just the epic fail warning and the program shutting itself off.
  20. So I found this nifty little online calculator called MITCalc. (free demo available not sure if its ok to post links but if you google it should be easy enough to find). The calculator is actually a excel spreedsheet where you can input your variables pretty neat little tool actually that answered this question. There is a G11 class fit it falls under ISO 286 and for my 35MM slot the high low ranges from 35.009-35.169mm. Thanks for all the help. Mat
  21. When I try that it does a incremental move from wherever my tool is. The work around I am using right now is G90 G54.1 P100 Y0. Then in my offsets I have my Y value set for the P100 offset at Y-82.5. We never use those offsets with the work we do here so this will work in the meantime. Thanks for the help
  22. I kjnow its a British standard but am yet to find out a answer yet will keep you guys posted thanks for the help.
  23. We just got a drawing which shows a fit on a slot of G11 for a 35mm wide slot. I cant find any information on a G11 fit only for H11 and am not sure if that is a typo or I am just not looking in the right place. Does anyone have any idea what the tolerance for the fit is? Thanks in advance for any and all help
