  1. We run a 718 Inconel job faster than I've seen anywhere. Here's the recipe: 1) 1.25dia X 3flt Kennemetal Facemill (.25rad inserts) 2)Kennematal ceramic inserts: KIPR125RP43540 3)4584 RPM and 41.25 IPM. 4).100" axial cut 5)Full dia cut 6)Run dry! Oh yes.. 7)50 taper horizontal mill. You will see the prettiest color of orange-red chips spewing off the cutter. The work doesn't get hot and you get great cutter life. HTH Dan
  2. Jim, Font is default MCX Box. It doesn't mater how I pick...shift-pic, window-pick, pick individual entities. Doesn't matter how I drag. Crashes every time. I'm updating video drivers now. BTW, my platform is a brand new Dell with dual core Xeon's.
  3. I'm crashing during a DRAG. Please do this: 1)Create-Create Letters. 2)Type in: 1 2 3 4 5 6 3)Xform-Drag 4)Window-pick any number. 5)Press Return key. 6)Click anywhere on the screen 3 to 5 different places to drag-copy around what you've picked. Please let me know how it goes. Thanks, Dan

  7. Greets to the group!! My Spaceball 5000 makes my graphics jump (rotate) every once in a while, say every10-15minutes. Anybody else having the same deal and found a fix? Thanks!1 Dan
  8. I get this in Flowline. Using SP1 because I have to. MR1 causes me post problems but works the toolpath fine. When I read it into SP1 its screwed up again. Is there a work around?

    hide?

V10 is coming along well but still has it's new-program growing issues. IMO it's about a toss up to jump into it now and go thru the learning curve or wait for MR2 or later rev's to get the same reliability as 9.1. There are some groovy V10 functions though. When you make the jump, drop me a mail and I'll try to help with what stuff I consider handy tricks. Dan

    hide?

Note to self: Learn the Ea. Manager! Thanks Iskander. Dan

    hide?

Slick, Yep! Same exact problem. Exit out, restart mcam and it's fine. Luckily it doesn't seem to be something that will cause a crash like when other things start acting funny. I use hide all the time and would really miss the flexibility of not having it. The ability to hide all of any entity/attribute adds alot of control IMO. Hows things in Marysville? You're right in my neighborhood. I'm in Everett. Things are pretty busy these days. Dan
  12. Greets to the group. I'm sure there is a way to do this but I can't remember how. What I have is a irregular surface (solid) with points that I need to do circle-mill operations on. How can I quickly generate vectors that are normal to the solid at the points?? Many thanks, Dan
  13. Anybody use it? Is it worthy? I don't even know how to use solid drill, but I'm thinking I should.....if it works. Thanks, Dan
  14. There has to be a way to backplot and see more than just XYZ coords but I cant find it. Help por favor... Dan
  15. Hmmm... That doesn't sound right. I'm doing a 5-axis drill so the tool should align with the vector line thats chosen (which is normal to the hole). On a 4ax hole, then you're right about the t-plane. I'm still thinking its buggy, especially since verify and backplot don't jive. Dan
  16. Greets to the group. Anyone seeing this with SP1? Fixed with MR1 maybe? I'm doing a simple 5 axis drill with a point and line. Backplot shows drill tip on the line but not aligned with the line. The code looks good (at a glance). Verify seems ok. Thanks for any insight. Dan
  17. Nice! Is there a doc somewhere that lists all the in's and out's of how the "shift" key tweeks commands? Dan
  18. Greets to the group from Sunny, yes SUNNY Everett, WA. I find myself getting caught needing to pick the chain/pick button. IOW I have to back out of the command I'm in because the selection mode is not what I needed. Is there any way to key map this button or otherwise toggle between chain and pick? Many thanks! Dan
  19. In V9 doing the following with the Spaceball will royally screw up your geometry: 1)Kick the view out to any old position. 2)Right click the mouse to get the drop down menu. 3)Hit Top View (or side or whatever MC standard view) 4)Watch the screen closely and nudge the space ball. See your part 'jump'? At this point it's gone goofy but it's not obvious. 5)Now save your file ***under a different name** 6)Open up the saved file. 7)Observe your fine work in its new thrashed state. Notice that it only moves arcs. This caused me much grief! Dan
  20. You're just about guarenteed employment in the Puget Sound area of Washington state. As long as you can deal with the grey/rainy weather. A decent programmer can pull down $25-32/hr
  21. Very cool James! I do exactly the same except I didn't think about the 1000 series levels for tooling. Good idea! Dan
