From a personal incident i'd tell you not to trust ur post that you update from MC9 to MCX2. i got screwed up post out of it and nearly totaled a machine.. the fault is mine i shouldn't have trusted it like that i know.. solution..? i was told to contact CAPTECH, tell my boss to pay for the fixing of the post.. which of course never took place. an allergic reaction from the word... PAY. peace

am not as much of an expert as all of you here but maybe my input could be of help. Files i get are designed with wildfire2.0, 3.0 and catia. I don't have too much trouble and broken lines when i get a step files but if its IGES...it used to be hell. So what i do is I NEVER create curves from the file if its surfaces. it always comes up broken lines and dupes... what i do is create solid from surface and i check to delete original surfaces. That converts the entire into ONE entity unless there are broken arcs which are much easier for me to fix than going through the multi layer. So what i do next is IF there is wireframe lines and such... i give my new SOLID a different color. then i delete all curves 'usually they're all imported in one color'. Now with only the Solid.. i create my curves and lines that i need on it and i never get dupes. This process could sound really dumb but i saved alot of time using it personaly.. oh.. i wouldn't know how this would go with MRX2... i reverted back to MC9.1 for now until i manage to puzzle out this new software. peace and hope that was of some help.

hey guys... am rather surprized to hear so much negative about HAAS!! i rather love those things, they hardly brake and they run so well like super and their hight feed is soo accurate i wouldn't want to use any other type of machines. we have only 3 haas here and am trying to convince the owner to get more of them and get rid of the rest we got. we have those huge FAMUP ones i donno if any of u guys know them. Some italian machine and those really REALLY cause trouble.. anyhow just wanted to chare a little and honestly u got me worried here making me starting to think are we only lucky with our haas and its not always the case with the rest of them or what!

wooo am amazed to say this but i never thought Microsoft will actually support an 'old' OS after having released a new one. In January SP3 for winXP is coming out guys.... if that means something it could only mean that VISTA was a catasrophy 'i don't think i spelled that correct'. anyhow thanks for all the help and i was gone for few weeks cause my friend got injured in the shop pray for him guys plz.. he didn't lose his finger but pretty much damaged it... wish him good luck he'll need it..

I don't know.. i am never with direct contact with him. Its our machine shop networking guy who takes care of this. I tell him whatever it is i need or am having problem with and he does the contacting.. don't ask me why becuase i don't know why is it like that either. when the guy came to deliver MCX, thats when he told me i can download the demo .. and he said he'll send me the link but i think he forgot... and for that i posted my question as to where i can download that from. thanks guys..

okkk.. i guess i'll have to contact him again then cause he told me that he can send me the disk or i can download it from their website.. whcih i couldn't find! thanks though

yep, it bit me alright... here is one confusing thing that came up in X2 with me the other day... I create a machine groupe and although when i click on use the coolant, pick etc.. my tools don't have coolant do i have to pick coolant on manually all the time for each tool or is there a way to turn it on in the configuration that im' missing? and second in the machine group lets say i do op1 group then i created op2 group where i used another WCS...!! now what happened is that as soon as i did this all ops in OP1 group needed to regenerate and the WCS changed in them as to what i have specified in OP2!!! the only way they didn't happen with me is when i created a SECOND Machine group!!! am i missing something? can i have more than one WCS per machine group? last question and sorry for all that guys.. you know the logitec mice? like sometimes they have the zoom and all that and some extra bottons? anyone uses those? i was wondering if i can assign a keyboard key to one of the keys on the mouse like ALT, CTR OR SUCH.. anyone knows if thats doable? doable? looked like diablo thanks all for all

yes Jim i surely did verify and check my program before sending it out.. in the verify it looked perfectly fine.. and so it did in the backplot. I didnt say it wasn't my fault as well.. i scaned through the code though and it looked fine.. it's more than 98 to 99% good.. i donno what went wrong.. well.. the post went wrong that much i know but the why i donno. and guess what hence the post is causing trouble in X2... boss said go back to v9.1 ! just when i was actually starting to like X2 ya? it has some cool features.. however i still don't see how working with it will beat the speed in working with 9... no way on earth i'd say.. lol.. i know me saying this pulls some sensitive strings for some guys here..

First accident in a machine took place with me today and thanks to X2. xxxx it. u know it updated my customized PST files from MC9!!! well.. i guess it does one **** up job when it updates those files, my drilling cycle is all screwed up upside down and for some milling operations as well... it looked mostly good but towards the end there.. it decided to BOOM. I'm to be blamed as well as the technician who showed me how to convert it who didn't point out that this new system could be catastrophical upon updating posts.

hey guys... what difference is there between MCX and MCX2? i started the transition with X and today its being updated to X2... I thought i had X2 but i guess its the MR2 or whatever.. is there a remarquable difference i should fear or the difference is in the higher lvls like multi axes and such? anyone knows please? thanks

there are 2 small ones.. one for 70 and one for 130! the only difference i saw was that for the 130$ one they say its compatible with pro e and a list of softwares.. and the technical support!!! would any of them two work?

am tempted to order the small one..

lol... hey guys...what are you saying 2 and 3 monitors? i can't get myself more than the 17" am working on... and i have to ask... why 2 or 3? yes at times i do have about 5 different windows of MC running but not all at once i minimize and jump back and forth! why not get a 60" plazma? heyyyyy... bubbly is what i called it cause i had no other name for it. and i wasn't referring to the one ur using cadcam thats located to the left of your desk but the one to the right... left one is a little too expensive to look at unless one day i learn the programming as much as u guys. but 450$ for a mouse.. hey do u guys actually designe using MCX or another software then convert? i had to ask sorry.

okkkk? i looked that up but i have no clue how would anyone manage a mouse and this bubbly thing and a keyboard all at once.. hey guys, i had to print a setup sheet for the setup guys in the shop and this thing was huge in X2. but it says its customizable...! by people with small knowledge such as myself or it means i'll need to contact captech and ask them to fix it the way i'd like to have the setup sheet? peace.

you may be very right u know.. i never knew those tips u know thank alot... actually u gave me an idea.. maybe i'll start a post and call it MCX2 hints and tips dump... where people share cool functions like that u know.. actually even what Cadcam posted for me as a sample video.. and other than what was that tutorial about i noticed the way the part swivles and moves and zooms in and pulls back out that was sooo wicked i never saw that.. i mean i didn't see him moving the mouse around for the part to shift so smoothly in round and such... and then those hints u just gave and many hints that other have shared... this is gold... thanks alot man and i hope i adapt fast. good night.

hi guys... long and nasty day at work today. my blood pressure went up for sure with X2. u know how much it doesn't help that now i'm stuck with X2 but not gradually and having all work piling up and people chasing u? on top of that, i wish i could at least wipe 9 out of my mind so that i won't have to try to do a function with X2 that i used to do with 9 and look all over the place and not find it... which brings us to this... The function squash in MC9... was it removed from MCX2? and the function create points along entity in 9... !!!! u know i click a line and say 20 points and it does the job. is there a guide or such for all the functions in 9 that were removed and if not what are they called in X2? maybe maybe MAYBE that could make me thing i still got a chance...

ahhh glenn, soryr but this time i can't agree. i'm faster and more accurate with the keyboard than the mouse i was a typist. this is why am bugged with the mouse system... but i gotta adapt.. what few hundred bucks? i called captech here and they told me 14 days course where they'll teach me MCX from a to z will cost me 7000$! although i don't know how much can they exactely shove in my head in these 14 days... and the lady made me a special offer saying if i take it in french, it will cost me 360$/day instead of 500$. thats cool except that i will be missing alot of informations as am not as fluent in french as i'm in english.. no few bucks man this, to me, is a budget braker. hey cadcam, thanks but i dont need the file, i'll try applying the concept on any other drawing. i have plenty. thanks alot though. have a good morning and a good day guys..

hey guys.. a quick question... is there a way i can keep the ALT key always triggered instead of my having to press it each time to activate the menu? meaning if i type C A C it won't do nothing unless i press ALT first... is there a way to change that? or say replace the ALT key by another key or such.. ? sorry am somewhat annoying today. peace
