  1. holllly shwartz... thanks man.. not so simple but doable thanks.
  2. hellllooooooo helpppp plz. we got a big order and the customer is requiring that we engrave the S/N on the parts. now each part has a different serial number of course! and the order is above 500 parts. is there a way where the machine will automatically increment the engraving 'sounds hard to believe' sorry if its a stupid question but is there a way to do this? the easy way 'which is not creating 500 sub programs and keep changing them after each part.. we use Fanuc Control, MC9 and MCX any idea anyone.. plz help..
  3. hi again.. thanks a lottttt collin.. i won't over risk i'll order volume 2 and start from there then. I guess if i find it too hard then i'll order volume 1 afterwards. i guess this would be better than getting both and finding the info i want only in the second and not really benefetting as much as i wanted from the first. anyhow.. won't waste your time no longer i thank u again and i thank everyone else too... peace
  4. hi.. ok thanks alot this last reply it was somewhat detailed. "How good are you with 2D toolpaths (contour, drill, pocket)? If you know them pretty well you can probably skip Handbook volume 1 and go straight to volume #2." i won't say that am good hence there always is room for improvement. But i work as a programmar for a company stricktly limited to using lvl1 though and even that i don't know 100% am sure. hardly do 3D cuts. i mean other than wireframe swept2D and Ruled toolpaths i didn't get the chance to explore beyond that. using MC9 by the way. now if there are things in lvl 1 that i'm missing that i can't really know either but i wanna go beyond lvl one its rather boring and no challenge in it and i wanna leap to x2 hence its the newest so far. so yes if volume one is focusing on drilling pocketing and contour in 2D! i guess i'll be able to figure those out on my own IF i get used to the new version that is. am ashamed to say i wasn't able to figure out how to copy part of my drawing to a different lvl in X. lol.. frustrating ha? the function screen is not there no more. so do u suggest i go with Volume 2? and skip one? thaaaaaanks to you all for all the help
  5. lol.. thanks alot guys... well.. its good to know that charles and his books are great but i can't purchase but the books. thanks all again that made me more confident somewhat but still.. is there no one who used the X2 books?
  6. Hi all and to make a short story long and a long story short.. CHARLES DAVIS.. his books X2 volume 1 and 2 are they worth the price? Do they take you step by step through work? And between volume one and 2 am i gonna see the same examples and drawings or new ones. Am asking this cause i got books from InHouse solutions b4 for MC9. i got Mill and lathe and designe and solid. All last three books (lathe, designe, and solid) were more than 80% or so i find in the MILL book. The drawings in the designe book were ALL in the MILL book so practically i paid for 3 books for nothing. i don't want the same to happen again so i had to ask. Waiting for your replies as soon as possible. are instructions well explained, clear and easy to understand? lets say on scale of 10 how would you rate the books? ah and if Charles Davis comes to this website.. plz don't take my post badly no offense is meant at all. sorry if any were taken. peace out
  7. good morning all.. its 5:30 am and am heading out to work.. thanks again for all... but one quiky question as we say... customizing the buttons and all that on MCX. is there a way to save my customization meaning where i put the buttons to my convinience and the RIGHT click if i figure how to change that as well? am saying this cause am not the only programmer working on that same station so if i can change it and save it so that i can load my configurations later.. that will be good.. but if i change and customize and then someone else changes it to HIS convinience... and i have to manually reset all.. !!! u see the pic? and have a good day full of toolpaths all of u..
  8. heyyyyy hi guys.. just came back from work and i won't give myself more than 5 minutes on PC for today i sat on it more than enough.. thanks alot.. thats motivating alot what you all said. thanks alot.. ahhh. so i guess i'll have to browse in X demo at home as much as i can to get used to it before i start working on it at work otherwise i'd expect a production freeze in the machine shop and my last paycheck thrown on my head. but to be honest.. i donno why everything in MC was flipped upside down.. i mean a big transition indeed.. and I HOPE its for the best. actually u guys here were the first to motivate and give a good comment for X... know guys programming in 5 machine shops around me that totally removed X. john paris we have X at work.. not X2.. why is there that much of a diff between the 2? lol.. i really doubt my boss will consider getting X2 anytime soon.. hence he paid for X but non of us cared to touch it.. u know.. the frustration of feeling pointless again . rjearl.. someone feeling my pain still. i think we should try to get over it. peace all.. today i rather go on PS2 than MCX.
  9. hi all i donno if i'll find help regarding this here... we got MCX in our machine shop... and it was honestly a total disappointement; the reason could be that the interface of it is totally different but i already have big doubts if work could be done on it faster than mc9. keyboard was the key to my programming but using the mouse....!!! so to get to the point.. say if i want to assigne the shortcut keys i was using in 9 into MCX.. is that possible? for instance.. When i wanted to create a parallel line in MC9 i'd simply type CLLS then all i had to do is type the distance... can i assigne that to MCX? personally i find using the mouse a step backward not forward at all and its very annoying sometimes to get to find the icons. or for example i'd type SHAE to change the colors of all entities active on screen in MC9... again can i input those keyboard inputs for the same functions in MCX? thx
  10. hey guys... thanks alot for the help again... any feed back is appreciated but now i have to go to work and check if my post supports sub.. didn't come to my mind that its very possible that it doesn't.. i have to check that out... by the way, since we're talking about posts.. is there a manual or a guide somewhere showing how i can customize or change things in my pst? or am i pushing it now?
  11. hi guys.. thanks alot for the replies.. yes mark my screen looked like yours somewhat but not exactely hence i'm with mc9 still. but yes, thats about it EXCEPT... your work group u have several ones there could that be the problem?! i mean i program one complete part in one group and then i did the transforme..and i post the result 'the new transformed group' no? or is there a specific way.. i feel dumb sorry but i never thought i'd run out of memory. yes hence the machine is so low in memo i have no more than G54 to G59 so i have to go polar or such and use the same G as much as i can. (Another thing to check is your machine definition under "subprograms/mill" check required fields. Is your post setup to use subs?) GOOD POINT.. COULD THAT BE IT..? i really have no clue if my post setup to use subs?! how do i find out.. sorry for the headache again guys. peace
  12. hi guys... a question and any help would be appreciated... its about duplicating tool path. the memory i happen to work with has no more than 100kbs i have no problem in translating the tool path but someone mentioned that with mastercam it is most likely possible to make a program formed of sub programs where the tool path is generated practically for ONE part only and then the translation happens through repeating calls to sub programs. now the function of creating sub program is also in the toolpath tranforme menue as well but it didn't generate no subs.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks... peace.
  13. hi all.. for once we're starting to think about using mcam v.9.1 for programming on the lathe machine... however now that we tried writing a program with it.. the LIBRARY IS SOOO OUTDATED. i mean the version is ancient and was never used i would say... dusty everywhere. now down to the point.. am not familiar with the lathe machine yet but how is it that i can update the lathe library on mastercam? i mean like there are holders that don't exist at all.. should we create those manually one by one? or is there a file to download or... u know.. peace and thanks in advance.
  14. hi so is the difference between X and X2 or should i say 10 and 11 as little as the difference that took place between 8 and 9 beforehand?
  15. hi again... thx for the help guys.. take care peace
  16. hi guys Am running a job that required attaching some glueing device to the spindle and using the coolant on off to push the glue out when needed... now... is there a way that i write a toolpath on mastercam and have spindle RPM 0? yes i changed that manually outside to no rotation but was wondering if the function is there or not... second i need the tool to follow a trajectory but the spindle needs to be locked or else the attached device will shift off the right location above the part... M19 is what i used manually outside HOWEVER that makes the spindle make a full turn everytime the program runs which is what i can't have happen. That causes the wirings to get stuck around spindle after each part... 1 2 3 4 and all will be cut. .. anyway out? and last... is there a way to turn on and off the coolant in mastercam several times during a single operation? i guess thats all... any help would be appreciated.. (am using mastercam v9.0)
  17. mmm.. one last bothering question.. Handbook1 deals with mastercam aspect lvl 1 and handbook volume 2 deals with mastercam lvl 2 stuff? is it like that a sequence? or what? thanks
  18. hi.. u're right.. but that won't do.. cause with the highfeed it doesn't keep the same feed.. it keeps fluxuating... i don't think i spelled that right.. but thanks for all the help guys.
  19. I hear you man.. thanks for the advice... i'll try to get ur book as soon as i get the chance hence everyone is praising it... i think its a must. i donno about MCX that much though... i mean everyone's been telling me to learn it i should leave MC9 and not touch it... but work requires that i touch MC9 or else machines will freeze.. and when i get the chance to touch MCX at work... do u know how frustrating it feels. lol.. but i think u're right... i should forget its mastercamX and just deal with it as if its just a new programming software and try to learn it without thinking about MC9.
  20. I DID ITTTTT... as much as it was inconvinient, i decided to go through my G code and change all those wacko feeds one by one.. took me alot of time cause those weird feeds weren't all the same.. but i did the job today... gahhhhh. my eyes were twitching by the end of it. thanks all.
  21. Charles Davis! lol.. just now someone was suggesting me i buy your book.. and here i find you. Thx for your effort and i guess i'll give it a try.. but can u please tell me is the Handbook vol 1 takes me from zero and gradually up. MCX is confusing the living hell out of me.. i know 9 fine i'd say... So would the manual be good enough to start with or should i also purchase the beginners book and so on? thanks in advance. peace
  22. THANKS alot man... u don't happen to be this Charles Davis do u? i'll ask my new boss if he'd be welling to send us to the training at captech... cause on a personal lvl, i am sure that i wouldn't be able to afford such..
  23. Am Using MC9! MCX sux so far to me its confusing like a totally new program to me... so i guess in MC9 there is no way to reverse the Highfeed! anyhow i appreciate it all... by the way guys, overall u find MCX better? or it only looks cooler?
