  1. Heyyyyy.. thanks for the clip... how did u make the recording? thats really handy... lol.. actually i think i should spend at least 1 hour a day browing this forum i bet i'm gonna learn some real good tips thanks again
  2. lol.. glenn.. i do not plan to end up paying an amount of money that my budget can't really afford knowing that boss won't pay it.. and i do not intend to give the guy a heart attack either.
  3. oh and by the way iowajim62, although am pissed at my boss regarding the training thing and him not sending us... which is making my life harder... but u know he told me that the training would cost few thousands there... a new pc makes him money as programs are being made 'using v9 or x or whatever'... i think this is how he sees it... and well... i donno... thats not really valid argument cause better knoweldge in programming should profet him more i would say... but who knows how people think and calculate things ya?
  4. one person gave me an advise and said if u wanna learn X too good and fast, u must put 9 aside and not touch it and think of X as a totally different software.. but with the load of work, cant really put my hand off v9... production will slow and drawings will pile up and there will be screaming all over the place..
  5. lol.. ok i feel high.. why you guys sooo defending it for? now i have no right to bash it as i didn't learn it to say 9 is better.. but so far to me 9 IS better hence that one i know and this one i don't. logical. how do i make a line longer?
  6. yes cadcam consulter... true 100% what you said and this is what got me screwed... when i was trying to do that designe u know. so basically to make a simple shape like a CBORE say if i'm not wrong using surface i'll have to draw the top and bottom of the cbore and at the bottom make a flat with the hole... etc. but what i didn't figure out yet is why can't my extruded solid hole say that falls through a surface from the other side actually cut the surface and so i see a hole in that surface where it intersected with the extruded solid hole... or its maybe me who doesn't know how actually i don't know so far.
  7. lol.. yes we do not really like X here that much.. actually we're really more like HATE it so far. Am trying with it and i still do find it annoying and slower to work with than 9 myself. maybe because i'm missing so much to learn still. dude.. i donno how to make a line longer... u know the fuction Modify, Extend, length in 9... well.. am still looking for it.. lol.. and patience is running out and the owner isn't planning on sending us to the course... what a waste of money he says. Hence 9 does the job, why bother with X2? the two other programmers gave up on it after one week of trying. am still hanging on though... thanks all though for the hints... i guess solution is XP... byeeee
  8. u serious? this sux... bah.. what the hell i'll let the technician know... thanks for the help.
  9. Hi guys, my pc got fried where i work so we ordered a new kickass one quad core and 4GB ram... but it came with vista!!! now that same MCAM9.1 that we were using for several years now is refusing to work. Page loads up and freezes. MCX works but we all hate it here. any clue how to fix this thing... i'm like 100% sure its because of vista hence thats the only change that took place... anyone? peace
  10. hiya... thanks for all but it worked afterall... and thanks for that link i may be able to use it in the future... bye..
  11. Thnks for the reply guys... MLS, that was the first thing i treid but it didn't work. i wish i knew how to attach a picture here that wouuld have helped. See the overall solid shape of the part covers this cavity slope shape that i did using rule surface.. i was thinking maybe boolean remove would do it, and usually it should but am someone really a beginner with lvl2 stuff. its not working am getting really frustrated now..
  12. hi guys... ok helppppp... can i create a rule operation but in solids? not surfaces but solids. and if i have a flat geo like a square or so i can't chain it and turn it into a solid flat face can i? see i have a part that i made totally and its really a very very silly part but the problem is that i made it all in solid and in the middle of the part from the top there is some sort of a cavity slopish shape that i couldn't do with solid. Doing it with surface was a joke, i just picked both ends and ruled and thats it... now however there are holes from a flat on the side cutting down at an angle and should blend into this cavity shape slop that i did using rule.. doens't workkk. even after i turned my solid into surface hoping to be able to trim the holes i did using extrude in solid... its not blending with the new cavity surface i did. i gave up but i know this should be something really stupid and easy to do but i guess am missing something... help anyone? the hell am i missing? another thing i was thinking.. is there a way i can use my surface as a stamp to stamp it on my solid like.. say i create a bevelle of a shape to cut a cavity of a sort in the solid? is that doable? i litterary wasted more than 4 hours on this stuipd operation.. any hint is welcome... oh, and how come extrude function in surface can't do the same that this same function does in solids as in cut and such? is it because surface parts are all hollow inside or such? peace.
  13. that was simple see? i feel dumb.. lol.. thanks alot man for the help it works now.. and thanks to everyone else too.. good luck and have a good weekend guys..
  14. hey all.. can't believe am asking this so sorry but it drove me big time up the wall. if u create a circle or 7 inch diameter at z3.0 and a circle of 10 inch diameter at z-1.0. seee how simple? now toolpath, wireframe, rule... pick them both and can someone plz explain WHY IS THE TOOL going up and down all around like some grass hopper? i was trying to make the milling maching to create a chamfer around a cone of a sort but i was for some reason expecting the rule function in wireframe toolpath to give me the choice of it going in circles and shifting xyz after each diameter depending on the overlap i put so that i have a tool starting with a big diameter and cut all the way up to the small diameter while the diameter is constantly decreasing.. HOWEVER.. helpppppppp. i know am missing something real dumm and stupid but i gave up. oh.. and just for the record am limited to MC lvl 1 only. thanks a bunch. peace
  15. hi guys and thanks to all of u.. kannon... thanks alot to you. i didn't know that i shouldn't have a shared face.. that was the mistake now it worked... thanks alot everyone again truly appreciate it. bye
  16. true but the thing is it DOESNT distroy the copy, it just gives me that message and thats as far as i can go. it doesn't performe the operation this is why i was asking if i was doing something wrong u know. this is what i did, lets say my part border is 2x2 inches; i made a 4x4 cube sharing the same center point of my part but deeper than my part, then i picked boolean, remove, selected my cube, then selected my part. didn't work, so i did select my part then my cube... didn't work either! am sure its me who's doing something wrong.. but i can't figure it out. thanks man.
  17. hi guys and thanks for the replies... however i seem to be doing something wrong. I got the message saying that boolean operation will distroy target!! lol.. that sounded terroristic but funny to me.... anyone would be about to help? i donno what am i doing wrong? oh and the idea is what? i create a solid with which i submerge my part solid and i do this process? i don't really know what to ask as i have no clue what wrong is it that i am doing... any suggestions?
  18. Hey guys, a quicky plz if anyone knows that would really really save me so much time. I have a part with more than 20 different z depths and its in IGS format. now what i need to do is create a male part for this... meaning the opposite of the part so that my new part will have a perfect fit with it. 'REVERSE' i donno how to put it so that i want to do is clear. now, is there a way in MC9. or MCX where i can do that and have the MC create the new solid file for me with few clicks rather than me doing dimensions and drawing the male part myself (where i could most possibly do mistakes as well this way). ? if its possible plz help.

ahhhhh... ramping is good! ok its the tooling i'm getting that should be down the drain. u know guys now i feel like buying the tools out of my own pocket just to experiment because what is going on with me now with these tools is SOOO REDICULUS i'm gonna die. My HSS drills are dying every 10 parts maybe and my Carbide EM as well. and its slowwwwwwwwwww. litterally this part on Aluminum wouldn't have taken me more than 3 minutes. 'i say aluminum because thats what i'm used to dealing with usually'. but this stanless.. its taking around 50minutes instead. Ok between Hanita and Niagaratools... are they the same or which is best?

lol.. thanks alot guys and it was actually funny at places. Beware of proving to your boss that your smart ha? sometimes they take it wrong.. me i rather act dumb and follow whatever instructions i receivce even if they will casue a distruction these days. To saves me from some headaches i hear u very well CrazyMill man. Hence i'm stuck with this as is.. let me ask a one last thing. ramping on stanless.. is that a good thing to do.. i did it with the standard carbide tool i have and the machine almost started walking out of the shop. so? suggestion? peace

lol.. thanks alot guys... u know i hear about varimill, niagara, Hanita... but never actually got to use them. am not the owner... am a worker and what i have to deal with is using standard carbide EM and HSS and i really am having a hellish time and slow work done. thats why i was wondering if any of u guys used standard carbide EMs for Stanless... those tools am talking about work great for Alum.. but steel.. i have zero exp... anything would be helpful guys.. thanks..

hi guys using standard carbide endmills. what SFM would u think to be best for cutting 304 stanless. endmills are not coated. 1/2 EM 2 flutes and 3 flutes. salesman said sfm 350!!! my tool litterary turned red and snapped. coolant cons is 8. and actually should i or shouldn't i use coolant? am saying this cause someone said to me when cutting steels usually they don't use coolant. anyone knows how to deal with stanless or has a calculation chart that happens to be accurate that was tested cause the chart i got didn't really do the job, or i screwed up i donno. 350 sfm and 2cpt! that gave me 2800rmp and feed 11.2 and offcourse what am i doing wrong? oh, and am drilling with HSS drills.. what sfm and feed should i give THOSE? thanks
  23. Thank you sooooooooo much my God that was simple alt+t.. thanks again and again... and thanks guys regarding the icons too although it doesn't seem to work but i'll miss around with it some more. peace out
  24. hi all.. how is all doing hopefully great. a while back i posted here saying am shifting to X2 hopefully and i did.. PROBLEM. i customize the where and how i arrange all those icons everyone to my conviniece and then i save the file in the customize screen and i give it a name. I also changed my right mouse click menu... now the problem is that when i load that file i saved with my setttings.. it only loads right my right mouse click setting.. but as to the where i located the iconson the screen before changing.. it screws that up.. am i doing something wrong? another frustrating question sorry, in V9.1 in my toolpath screen i used to often select from the drop down menu toolpath display OFFFFFFFF so that i don't have all those lines everywhere making my life hard.. how do i do that with X or X2? i couldn't find that feature.. lol.. X2 is some wild experience.. God it makes my eyes twitch in frustration.. thanks all
  25. whats their website? i wanna take a look at the chart if possible.. their tools good for steel u guys say? I don't believe in feed and speed charts either... i wouldn't know about steel and stainless but with aluminum.. i'd say use ur judgement before anything else and don't trust those numbers u see all the time.
