  1. thanks for the quick reply, the hand dial will move the axis, but I have a program that will work on one A61 that has a job on it, but for some reason this one keeps alarming out when it tries to run G93 ? We never have tried to do any 4 axis similatnious work on this machine, and can't remember if we purchased the option. We will call the dealer tomorrow, to know for sure, but was just looking for a quick answer, from all you guru's.
  2. Hey all: I'm sure there is an easy way to do this. But we just got Vericut installed, and also have the Mastercam Chook. I want to create a toolbar button to access it. When I go to customize, and then on the drop down menu select Mastercam chooks.......the Vericut .dll file isn't in there, could someone please advise ? Thanks, Frank
  3. Thanks for the responses Thad I never knew that and will try it. I just switched back to using 3. I will play with 4 when I have more time, and find out most of the bugs by hanging out here.
  4. Hey all: I'm just doing a simple trim 2 entities, and when I go to select the 2 sometimes it works (puts an x where it's trimming to) and other times it throws up a warning that says Warning - zero length arc. And deletes the second arc, or line that you've chosen. So you have to exit out of it, and hit redo, then try again. Am I doing something wrong ? Thanks, Frank
  5. Hey all ! I'm using X3 and have a cylinder standing on end in a horizontal Mazak. I have to drill a series of holes around the perimeter of the cylinder. I know I can do it with the intergrex post I have, but it's not on the intergrex, so how would I do it to where it'll just post 1 G81, and after every rotation just drill another hole. Thanks ! Frank
  6. When you are saying using 13% are you talking about Blaser coolant ? If you are, right now we are at about 10. Thanks for all the replies. I found an emuge tap that might work. I'll kick up the coolant % and still not sure if our Mazak has peck tapping. The manual says nothing about it. We normally use G84, but have used G84.2, but have never added a Q to it.
  7. OSG doesn't have a pulley tap for that. We are going to be running over 700 parts, and I wouldn't want the operator to stop and squirt oil, if it isn't nessasary.
  8. We are chipping teeth, and are changing for every part. The material is 4140 with a hardness of 32-38
  9. Yes we are tapered reaming also.
  10. Thread mill really isn't an option because the thread is 3" into the part so I have to use a pulley tap. Anybody know where I could get a real good pulley tap ? Thanks
  11. Hi all: I've read here that Mazaks are capable of peck tapping. We are trying to tap some pretty tough steel, and are going thru 1/8 - 27 nptf taps like crazy. I suggested a peck tap cycle, and they had never heard of it before. Does anyone know the code that's needed to do it on a Mazak Matrix control ? Thanks, Frank
  12. Thanks Chris, I've allready been told to order Z-carbs for the cutting, I just thought Mastercam would have it as a material pick in it's library. I guess I can just get a starting point feedrate...in the Z-carb cat. Sorry I'm milling with X2 MR2 SP1.
  13. 17-4 isn't in the Mastercam Library either ?
  14. Hey All: I'm new to cutting Stainless, and I now have a job to cut 15-5P, I have looked it up, and can't find that stainless available as a material in the Mastercam Library. Does anyone know of a similair material that is in the library.....like 304. Thanks, Frank
  15. I'm all for programming feedrate at IPT in fact that is how I save all my tools feedrate, and changed the post to only post G95's the big problem with that is I can't get a time in Backplot. How about being able to change the depth of a drilled hole using incremental. Frank
  16. did you look in the control definitions ? If so and you changed it, I can't help you, because it worked for me. Good Luck
  17. Hey Bill: I worked in a shop that had the same thing. 3 Cincinatti Lathes and we ended up putting a greko box on all 3. That seemed to work alright. If your in Michigan I can give you a number of a guy who could set it up anyway you would like. Those are nice machines, just need some modern software. Good Luck, Frank
  18. Wow quick response......I never thought to look there. Thanks it worked !!
  19. Hey all: When I post out arcs, they come out in halves. I did change the questions in the post to: arcoutput$ : 0 #0 = IJK, 1 = R no sign, 2 = R signed neg. over 180 arctype$ : 2 #Arc center 1=abs, 2=St-Ctr, 3=Ctr-St, 4=unsigned inc. do_full_arc$ : 1 #Allow full circle output? 0=no, 1=yes helix_arc$ : 1 #Support helix arc output, 0=no, 1=all planes, 2=XY plane only arccheck$ : 2 #Check for small arcs, convert to linear Is there something I'm missing ? It's still not outputting a full circle. I also did a search here, and didn't find anything. Thanks, Frank
  20. Go to Cplane then Lathe Diameter and highlight D+ Z+ hopefully that's what you needed.
  21. I think it's a great idea ! What I do now is, if I'm using a 4.000 face mill I create a 4.000 arc, and click it around the part where I want it to go, then create lined from center to center of the arcs. To be able to freehand a path would save a lot of time.
  22. Hi all: I just downloaded and installed X2 mri sp1. Now when I try to open MC I get this error, anybody else get it ? And how do I repair it ? Thanks, Frank
  23. I was told that G5 P2 is the high feed option, I don't think we have it. Now for the painful part, our other programmer has just got Tebis, as a 3D cam system, and from what I understand Tebis only does point to point programs. The one we are having problems with is 116 mg.....huge ! I tried running it through a MC finish demo program, which is sold by Metcut, and it reduced it 99%. But it can't be saved. I think we're finding out that without, high speed machines, and lots of money Tebis is not the way to go. Thanks for the replies. Frank
