  1. Hi, Internal threadmill comp'd for wear. Using start at centre (no arc entry). The threadmill leaves an undercut area on thread where it feeds in on 1 axis. I understand that part. How do I comp the threadmill properly without starting below the block? The threadmill has 21 teeth, .844 dia. in a 1-14 UNS-3B hole. Should I just run it no comp, measure the hole, and repost accordingly ?
  2. Hello, 'Search' says I can print all 4 view ports at one time. What I'd like to do and can't is to copy the screen image of all 4 to one of our set-up sheets. Is their a way to select all viewports? I only get the hightlighted (red) viewport to copy. Thanks.
  3. Hello, Is there any difference between curve 5 axis settings step increment and point generators? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hello everyone, I need to be able to define center drills #0-#5 more accurately for milling tool library. Maybe I'm missing it in one of the mill libraries? Can anyone confirm DRIILS.zip on FTP works? Please, not comments regarding spot drills, it's off topic here. Thanks.
  5. Yes Robert, wet. We get no thermal cracking here. You might be running a way higher cutting speed than us though too.
  6. Indeed they are high maintenance machines. We have an Agie classic, it's constantly cutting. The guy running it is pretty good with maintenance on it. We had the same machine at previous shop, but it was in an air conditioned separate room. It required the same maintenance basically. Both operators basically married the machine. I think square one is a preventative maintenance logbook and a good tech's cell number.
  7. OK, i'm still missing something. I translate 3D, select source (new view 9 which as a view planes by geometry, point to translate from i choose origin, point to translate to source (TOP) point to translate to origin does not move to system origin. Can someone point out my error here please.
  8. Can someone run me through translate between C-planes, search yeilded info on V9 only. I'm doing it the long way by extending my lines to increase rotate accuracy. Thanks.
  9. We do not run anything sparking. We do cut many special purpose steels, heat treated stainless', and most tool steels. We don't run sparking RPM's. We seldom run dry. It's either wet, or wet with airblast. Ceramic, now thats another process.
  10. Shawn @ All Tools, (Ahem) "Aww you can fly through that stuff. It'll cut. Just do it."
  11. We have run our single point lathe bars for 1-3 off specials, but it proves to be a slow process.
  12. We program a little modestly, try to standardize tooling for speedy set-up, consistent results. Crib notes for cutter sweet spots might help you out. I kept a notebook of them when I was an operator. Those catalogue values are 'melt speed' because they have to sell the productivity of the tool. Lastly, it's funny how most guys will slow a noisy machine down, but never wind it up when things are good.
  13. I use a containment whenever possible to limit my toolpath. I do not get the gap retracts. Some scenarios will need the check surfaces in place, so excersize caution. Can someone comment on the surface from solids chord setting vs. toolpath tolerance. Is it relevant here?
  14. Is your editor set to recognize the file extension you are using .NC,.H? Is it when you post or when you open existing files? If the file has no extension then you will be asked what program when opening and you will not get color coding after the first posting. You could always slap an NC extension on those files so they'll open in color, but that's more work isn't it?
  15. Hey, I'm not being smart here but we haven't maintained in a while and we have a perfectly sufficient CAM package at X2 sp1. I did however lose a little faith after the regen times shot way up (high speed toolpaths). I can't afford to be waiting on my computer 30% of the day.
  16. Tool staging is set in Control DefTool Enable staged tool routine and there should also be a switch in your post to allow staging.
  17. In my opinion this forum veers off topic quite a bit. I think adding separate forums is a good idea, but will people follow it much anyways? Will it become leaden with more... ? We don't need another CNCZone wrecking yard here. That thing is a useless mess (sorry guys). BTW +1 Daniel E.
  18. Good idea gcode. I'll have to try that next time. I was told there was a c-hook for 'find hole axis'.
  19. We make sure they're cleaning, organizing, whatever. As long as they look busy and don't impede production and they're fine. Machine shops are inherently dirty places, washing walls should learn 'em to stand around yapping.
