I use to use Via Voice with Ver 8. Had to create a dictonary for the commands but it worked cool until MC upgraded. It was to much hassel to keep creating a new dictonary everytime they changed.
No one said page/swap files slow a computer down. The way Windows is written it will, by default use a portion of your hard-drive for swap/page file unless you set it otherwise which is not recommended by Windows. It is an outdated technology that was implimented in Windows back in the day when memory was expensive. By the way Bill Gates did not write MS-DOS, Digital Research did when it was known as CPM.
Hey James I like Windows about as much as you do. The one thing I hate the most about it is the page swap file and the .dll's. talk about ripping off UNIX's obj's file structure.
Isn't there some virtualzation software out there that allows you to run Windows on Macs? I heard that you could even run the windows programs to mimic MAC software. VMware comes to mind right off the bat but there is suppose to be one other packages available to.
I think it will depend on how deep you go too. But I double feed and half to 2/3 rpm all the time with a reamer if the hole is prepared right. In alum. You can increase that feed to 50ipm no problem with a peck cycle, (*c* drill). Although it would depend on the depth, coolant and such. First time I showed it to someone they though I was crazy.

I googled him and he looks legit. Never used him or heard of him before though. Looks like he's running a small time one man show out of Fremont.

Why should 2D functions be a problem in Solidworks? Aside from sketch mode there are all the edge curve capiblities that are in SW's now which includes offsetting and intersecting from planes. Or am I just missing something?

I think thats going to be tough. Imagine relocating someone from out of the area. Finding out after a couple weeks it's not gonna work out and having to let him go.

Back in the early 80's I used Compact IIe for all my machine programing. It seems like all the guys at BOEING were raving about NCL as a real powerful APT based language to learn. Never used NCL myself though. Do loops were the bomb.

Even with the price differences between the two packages. If or when the two applications join. They will kick some serious bu++ out there. The integrated CAD/CAM software already available would be in for it. Mainly the ease of use and the user base thats out there already. Come on James join the bandwagon it's not so bad.
