  1. I am not sure if I am making total sense of this but here it goes. Mcam is outputting a parameter write (G10) to set your work shift to zero. What do you want it to say? Some other value? As for your tool setting, Im not sure what you have going on there. But if it works for you then fine. The industry standard as I know it is the face of the part is Z0. Not always but lets keep it simple. This is accomplished a variety of ways. On an older machine like a Conquest I set the tool Z by physically touching the stock. And entering that z position into the tool geometry table. Minus some for cleaning up the face. Subsequent tools are then "touched off" on the finished z face and set. X values are touched to the stock so that they cut a diameter, Position entered and on the Conquest the resulting diameter is subtracted from the x geometry table . Od or ID dont matter. The only time I use the Work shift is to make multiple parts out of one piece of material.Z should be set to zero before setting tools, unless you are good at math. And X should never be used.
  2. I would program it at 2500 rpm and 2.5 ipm.
  3. If I remember right they will want the fanuc number off of the mdi crt unit. so you have to open the pendant. I can get it arranged for you if you dont have any other options. Wont buying parts behind Mori's back get you in trouble?
  4. I bought replacement membrane sheets through Fanuc USA. I didnt think they were that high. But ive been wrong before. It was for a 15m. I have seen them on ebay before also.
  5. I thought I could just leave work offsets alone (left on -1)and mass edit them afterwards. But when I post the program I end up with different work offsets for the different angular positions(cplanes).WCS is left at top. This is not what I want. I want the same work offset throughout the program no matter the cplane.
  6. I dont think it does that if your ending tool on the first op and first tool on the second op are different? Right?
  7. I just transitioned to X4mu3 from Xmr2. I am using mpmaster 3/4horizontal post. I was using a post created by update post from version9 in X. Anyhow,When working in Mastercam and programming from centerline - with the part in 3d space as it appears on the tombstone.I programmed the first few ops on the left c-plane with a work ofset of 6. Then I swithched to a cplane I created still using WO6 and I get a message that says "work offset used on plane blah blah" and MXC4 crashes. I was able to finish the part but every subsequent change in cplane brought on the message. Is there a way to turn off this message. I never had this problem in X
  8. Dont cheap out on the filter end. If its not easy to change people wont do it. If I had my druthers I would get a unit that had two filters that you can switch between.
  9. I have had these problem with tabs also. The only work around I had was to make sure the operation was how I wanted it then apply the tabs. If I had to alter it after that I would create a new operation. or Create a 3d chain with tabs on it
  10. quote: thanks strabe, but your code is for G84 and i do not have problem with that; G88 is totally different, there is double Z for pecking thanks Thats just because you are lucky You have the same problem in both operations. That is what Strabe was saying Your post is cancelling the canned cycle with G80 after every hole, instead of after the complete pattern.
  11. If you have probing on the machine you can have a feature to measure and determine if the correct fixture is present. Not really an answer to your question.
  12. Does anyone have any opinions on Hangsterfers vs. Mobil-Vactra? I have used Vactra religously but I am getting pressure to change based on better availability. Is Hangsterfers going to plug up our waylube systems?
  13. They had an "expert" look at my process on this part and he wants to do away with my face mill, inserted endmill and 3 flute knuckle rougher and replace them with one 3/4 carbide 3 flute endmill. So I need to order a tool holder for this tool. Do you think a Big Plus shrinker will work? Does someone make a Big Plus Milling Chuck? Would a regular milling chuck be better than a shrinker, big plus or not?
  14. MCX_MR2_or Earler_Files/143A6135S01-BD-1V1OP2.zip Heres the three operations the first op is just fixturing and I didnt include it There are holes but not in the model
  15. I have a part that I am told is taking too long. I do it in four operations in about 55 min on a 400mm Horizontal. here is the model ftp://www.mastercam-cadcam.com/Mastercam_...solids/6135.stp What do you saturday guys think. Is that too long? If you want I can upload the Mastercam file but is is mcx mr2 I have heard that we have committed to getting x4 So Ive got that going for me
  16. Machine = Doosan horizontal 9 months old Toolholders = Shrink-fit workholding = part held solidly in Clustertower I was going to drill before heat treat
  17. I have a job here that should be real easy for alot of guys here. I have a part to quote that has four .500 dowel holes in 60Rc D2 I am thinking of hardmilling them. What would be a dataset as far as endmill size, spindle speed, engagement, feedrate etc? Thanks in advance
  18. Colin, do your coworkers know youre the man? That worked. I feel so stupid.
  19. Right Chris.I always comp in computer also. Mcam will not let me comp to theo-sharp on this tool. That option under the parameters tab is grayed out.It will only use tip radius center.
  20. file is under "mcx mr2 or earlier" on ftp name is cavitynose.mcx Chris m, are you able to compensate custom tools to the corner of the nose? and not the arc center. I have a feeling if I lie at the machine with offsets my radius will be bogus on the part.
