  1. I am having trouble getting this to work. I am using a Kennametal A16SVMBR-3 boring bar with a VBMT332 insert . There was not a predefined tool in the libraries. I drew the tool on a seperate level like I have done in the past for custom tools. The problem is Mcam will only let me compensate the tool to the center of the nose radius. If I lie to the machine with offsets will the part be good. I am turning a spherical radius down in the bottom of a cavity.
  2. Our Dura Vertical 5100 is on a 70 amp breaker with #6 wire approx 80ft run. I have a DPC30 at home for my shop, they are nice units. When my Robodrill's spindle starts it will pull near 60 amps measured at the breaker panel, upstream of the buck/boost and converter.
  3. Here are the rest of the parts. 970-25BCA-ND = Metal DB25 shell 970-09BCA-ND = Metal DB9 shell 1125MEA-ND = DB25 solder cup male 1109FEA-ND = DB9 solder cup female Connections DB9 Computer Red-5 Wht-2 Blk-3 Jumper 1-4-6 Jumper 7-8 DB25 Fanuc RS232 Red-7 Wht-2 Blk-3 Jumper 4-5 Jumper 6-8-20 Shield Drain gets soldered to housing of connector on this end only.
  4. I just searched the forum and experimented. I think I'm pretty good at it now. Some key points I use: :follow NCI (pocket) as grid stinks :you dont have to do the whole part in one op as you may be more efficent attacking it in multiple ops-directions :Same as other surfacing, cut depths to absolute and min & max set the same and to your max depth (eliminates pecks and wasted motion) :Follow tool mfg guidelines for stepover and such
  5. Digi-key # W404-100-ND = Carol shielded w/ drain 24awg 4 cond 45c per foot Fanuc only need 3 wires for RS232 and DNC If you want the other Digi-Key numbers for the rest of the cable bits I can post them here too.
  6. We make some parts for Gulfstream.Through a first tier supplier.I programmed these parts about a year and a half ago from .stp models that they generated for us from Catia. We were awarded about half of the initial super hot prototypes that we made.About ten part numbers. We have made these parts three or four times in the time since.I was told today that Every time one of these jobs comes through I need to go and get the most current model and use that. What is the easy way to do this? How can I compare the model I used to program it with first with what is currently available from GS?
  7. Machine tools are for making parts, not programing. That is why they make computers. For what its worth, I dont even waste my time looking at a machine If it doesnt Have a Fanuc control and Fanuc drives.
  8. Is Verisurf a competing product to Cosmos or Pcdimis? And thanks for the tip.
  9. I am looking for someone in the Kansas City area to provide training on on a Mitutoyo Bright Apex CMM with Geo Measure software. We need to do some reverse engineering of injection cavities and dont know how to proceed. This Machine is currently installed and calibrated but is just sitting because we dont know how to run it.And we have a B706 that we do know how to run.So an intense need has not been there. Now it is.
  10. Your parameters look good. You might try Halving your feedrate.I looked at an old proven program here for small holes it was #80 drill S90000 G99 G83 z-.22 R.03 Q .006 F10. So if we had your rpm to a factor of 9 Try 1/9 our feed = 1.111 Is your drill breaking upon breakthru into another hole?
  11. Is the material the reason you are not using a drill? With a end mill espesially a small one there is no where for the chips to go.We use MA Ford small drills down to .008 but only in metals.
  12. We use Iscar er32 adaption shrink fit.It was the only way to affordably get bt30 shrink fit for our Robodrill. We use it on cat40 mills also.It has worked out very well.We use tools from .010 thru .500 in them with no problems. We also do the Ghetto shrink fit.The only advantage I see to the rf heaters is speed. When we were still shopping for a system.I visited a shop close to us to see their method. They have a Haimer unit in the cell Where my friend works. He said "You just dont want to get it to hot" as he pulled the heater up, the end of the tool holder was glowing red.I have never gotten one that hot with my Ghetto method.Iscar er32 shrinkers are way less $$$ than one-piece tools.Less than half.
  13. I am currently running a family of parts with a .5 dia bore in a H6 tolerance range.I drill with a carbide drill and finish with a carbide reamer. Some where around 10-20 second cycle.
  14. Same here. Then when you scan your file before sending it to the machine if you see Z- you know you are in the danger zone.
  15. +1 to Mike That is one of the first things I do when creating a new program.
  16. So you have a 3/8 hole you are enlarging to what size? Your fluctuating rpm is a sign you are out of torque. With a .390 drill? with a .375 start hole?
  17. Wanna see a full pair of huggies? Forget to put that G94 after G80
  18. G60 single direction positioning. It looks like any other rapid on our Dura Vertical. On our Monarch with a 15M The control looks like it is executing a macro. The movement looks the same on the X&Y but on the W axis it always finishes a move in the positive (up) direction. That is the only place I ever use it is on that Monarch W axis BTW.
  19. G60 must be on a line with the axis moves. It is not modal. It must be the only command in the block. It must be first in the block. If you are already Coming at a position from that direction you may not see any difference.
  20. If I remember right Lathe was only around ** bundled. It was definitely worth the money for us.We do some fairly complex 2 axis lathe parts. And you can program something fast in lathe!Way faster than by hand. And there is zero guesswork.Unlike canned cycles,The machine will do what Mastercam shows. Mod edit, no pricing discussions Thanks [ 03-12-2009, 12:41 PM: Message edited by: JParis@CNC Programming Solutions ]
