Instead of G76?
Habit / preference
I feel
In G92 everything is black and white for me.

This^^^ is too cyptic for my tastes
Thanks for the reply. Now I know its not just me!
Im no mathmatician. but here is how I have always done it
(sin1.78815)x = r/l
x being total length
I am using mpmaster. btw
I noticed this on another part a few days ago. But I couldnt be sure if it was me or not. So, today while programming a different part i did a test. I programmed the same tapered pipe thread first on the main spindle. Then after transfering the stock I copied that operation to the subspindle ops, changed only the tool, axis combos,z coords, start and end of thread signs. When I then post these two identical thread ops the r/l taper value is wrong on the subspindle.

Has anyone seen this before
Yes 5 degree. the bore is .800 deep so I dont think I can face it first. My Iscar rep thinks my chip breaker could be the problem. I think that is very plausible.
Is there a technique or tool geometry selection to avoid trapping chips between the edge of the insert and a 90 degree shoulder?
I have had this problem on and off on both od and id work. So I havent been able to put my finger on the cause.
I am currently having difficulty in roughing out a bore in 321ss with a ccmt insert.
The thing is.
We looked into it. For the exact reasons you mention.
But
Our Mastercam reseller was luke-warm on Verisurf,at best.
I dont know if it was our application or his comfort level or something else.
+1
on a Bright Apex though.
I cant begin to tell you how happy we are with it.
Plus they let us upgrade the manual seat we bought in 06 to dcc for the difference. So in your situation that maybe something to think about.
5003 bit 6 LVK was 1 tool length offset value not cleared but held by reset. I changed it to 0-cleared by reset.
There should be no easy way to call a tool offset in program and then a g49 w/o a reset in between.
fanuc 18i parameter manual b-63530en/03
" 5009 bit 0 = GSG---in the mode of tool compensation direct input B, the offset write input signal is input 0-from machine side 1-from pmc side"
So i guess we will have to modify our posts to remove g49 before tool changes?
Is there not a parameter?
All our existing programs have g49 called in the beginning like g40 g20 g90
We are also having a problem since switching to positive tool offsets.
G49 causes Z to move in the negative direction to cancel the offset.
Not if the offset was canceled first with G91 G28 Z0.
