  1. I was also talking about Dynamic mill. Not opti rough. I misled by mentioning dynamic contour, I meant to go on and say it works so easily and I was having such a tough time figuring out WTH was up with this Dynamic mill. The root cause of my frustration was I had stock defined (under stock setup) for my first op. display was unchecked for clarity on my second op. " What does a Mastercam programmer do when the software tells you one thing, but it doesn't work like you would expect? You use logic to find the answer. " Logically I found where it was grabbing a chain to make a toolpath, even when I didnt give it any.
  2. I use dynamic contour all the time. I have a part here that needs a core type toolpath. It looks like in mcam2018 it uses any stock you have defined as the outside "outmost chain" from the manual "Dynamic Mill (From Outside Strategy)—Machines open pocket shapes or standing core shapes using the outmost chain as the stock boundary. The toolpath starts from the outside and works its way towards the inner boundary. Enable this by setting the Machining strategy in the Chain Options dialog box or in the Toolpath Type page to From outside." It only works like the help file says if you have no stock defined. in either case you have to define the inner chain as an avoidance region. Does this sound right?
  3. Since Jan 1 2019 is here. Where is MC2020? Will V2019 get any more updates beyond 3?
  4. i wanted to see how you use curve 5ax opposed to axis sub "industrial versions cannot open educational files"
  5. "select lathe machines" single spindle dual spindle tailstock I am assuming this does mean subspindle type lathes. I watched the video, self explanitory
  6. can he not move his wireframe to another level?
  7. That zip has a complete example @3.9dia The best way to create letters is through drafting-annotate-note that will give you access to the old text parameter interface. That wireframe-create letters she is no bueno.
  8. I have accumulated the need of a couple of post modifications . I would like some input from the experts on if it is feasible for me to do it myself. I have modified posts in the past, but not anything of note. I did manage to add G49 to the toolchange in a post for Robodrills ,about ten years ago. First Mpmaster for my Horizontal is not putting a decimal point on the B moves,It has to have them and I would like it to always output a current B with toolchange. Second, I have a new Y axis subspindle lathe here and unlike the others we have the main spindle is C and the sub is A, can that be done in the post? Thanks
  9. Have you contacted you RESELLER? https://us.dmgmori.com
  10. after every cast iron run im thinking. about bi- annual
  11. These machines run 24/5. and this machine has not run Cast Iron in over a month. Draw tube seized while the last remnant of a job was being removed before setup of the next part. The chuck stopped half-way open. The winning recipe was dry ice and about 90% of the 55 ton ram. The ram bore against the chuck bolts, even at maximum load the spindle turned like normal. After the first 3 to 5 inches the force required went down considerably.
  12. cast iron fines. From my reading cast aluminum will also do it.
  13. So I learned something new. You can get your drawtube stuck inside your spindle. This is on a five year old NLX2500SY. Have any of you ever dealt with this? On Monday I will have everything in place to attempt to Enerpac this thing out. I have tried dryice, which worked for a about a minute but then it re-siezed before I could get the drawtube removed. I have been fairly successful in keeping the "maintenance" men and their hammers away. What is worrying me here on Sunday is when I put 50 tons of force on that tube, is there a chance that it will cause the spindle to swell? I mean there is a interference fit now, something has to move. Should I dryice it and press it? Should I stop and just machine it out now and not risk it? The old Mori dealer says no problem, just use "plenty of timbers". I dont know exactly what he means , but I am not directing any force through a bearing. Only between the spindle face and the drawtube.
  14. no support = no Productivity by desirable i meant not an oddball unicorn.
  15. Who wants to wager on which of these three will be the most desirable machine - in 15 years.
  16. I use polar most of the time on multiple NLXes. The main advantage for ME is that it totally eliminates lines in the part. Lines from c axis steps. I think you may be violating this rule, maybe? # axis. All paths must start and end at the 'C0'location for output to # be correct. Chain the entire geometry without using Mastercam leads. I think the mplmaster worked out of the box for me.
  17. it can go in a fastems or other pallet pool, no wires.
  18. like this? I have seen one of these used that way, on its own pallet though. not a tombstone.
  19. This is one we slapped together on a Robodrill mate, no M code for clamping. Robodrill barfeed
