  1. But don't put them in water. You could electrocute yourself.
  2. If you have V9, is there any way you could use System Config... CAD Settings... Attributes... EA Mgr? It looks pretty versatile.
  3. If I create a new material color in Studio, it seems I can save it for that M/cam session only. Is there any way I can make a material color permanent? And/or the lighting settings?
  4. The latest M/Cam Newsletter touts the new VB Script Editor. Where is it? I visited the www.mastercam.com/VBScript site, but can't find the c-hook where it's said to be. Is it only in Mill? (Using V9.0sp1.)
  5. It's been a while since I did this so I may be a little fuzzy on the logic. In your list of Contacts, add a contact Fullname: !000 and File as: !000 and E-Mail: WormAlert. In theory, any worm will try to send to this contact first, and fail. Then it should abort. I'm not sure if it can be set to send a warning message to your IT Dept. or not. Hope this helps.
  6. Thanks for the reminder Glenn! I once knew that, honest. My only defense is, I forgot it once I started using "Hide" more. If you Hide stuff, it's not on the screen, but it still shows up in the Iges. BTW, Merry Christmas to all.
  7. Make an "Iges Some" option similar to "Save Some" when writing Iges.
  8. Whoops! This was supposed to go into the "Wants" topic.
  9. Make an "Iges Some" option similar to "Save Some" when writing Iges.
  10. There is a CARTEMP sample file in M/Cam that lets you, or your son, create random splines, and then loft surfaces from those splines (mirror & blend) to create a unique car body. Very cool demo, I think. To win, your enemy is friction. Add lead weights to the bottom of the car, have it weighed at the race & remove lead until you're just under the limit. Polish the nail shafts with a drill & fine sandpaper or grit from a hobby shop & add POWDERED graphite. I never heard of not being able to chamfer wheels but certainly stick to the rules. And let your boy have fun. I did all of the above & my son was BARELY knocked out of the first race by the winner of the past 3 years. We never got a second chance to race anyone else. So the building of the car may be most fun you have with your son. Good luck!
  11. I would like to call in a solid, then Create...Surface...next menu...from Solid...all settings N except Faces, and then be able to Window in faces en masse. This would allow me to create surfaces only on the side I am viewing, not the back. Presently, I can import the solid as surfaces and remove the ones I don't need, or convert Faces one at a time. Both very time consuming.
  12. I'm using Pcdmis with the same techniques as Lucky above. I think M/Cam and any CMM package is a perfect marriage. It was over 5 years ago I saw a demo of a Faro Arm scanning a part, and the point cloud going directly into M/Cam. Sweet!
  13. CMM Talk is on my IE list of favorites along with Forums for Mastercam, Catia, Unigraphics & CAD-CAM Forum for the Software Zone, just to mention a few. Because I work with CMM software and MasterCam every day, I am evidence that this forum is not just for machinists only and I try to contribute when I can, to all the forums I visit. Maybe Talk Master was just trying to help. The posting was short & to the point with no extra "Graphics" or "Words of Wisdom." Unless Talk Master makes a pest of himself, say by posting the same message over and over, I vote give him the benefit of the doubt.
  14. Check what your application can read, then match what M/Cam can export (IF it reads 3-D). For 2-D, put the highest resolution you can on your monitor, shade, rotate, etc., then screen capture, paste & show your artistic talents. My 2 cents.
